O livro originou-se da dissertação de mestrado defendida em 2019 no Programa de Pós-graduação em Educação da Universidade do Estado do Pará. Nesta obra, Jane Buecke analisa os sentidos da infância, as práticas educativas e os saberes culturalmente produzidos na tessitura do cotidiano social das crianças tupinambá que viveram na Amazônia do século XVII. Com olhar atento, a autora empreendeu uma instigante análise dos fios e dos rastros deixados nas fontes documentais e na historiografia europeia e brasileira sobre os processos formativos dessas crianças, sob a perspectiva teórica e metodológica da História Cultural. Inserida nesse horizonte, a obra de Jane Buecke revela o protagonismo das crianças ao atuarem como mediadoras culturais capazes de catalisar as novas aprendizagens em que estavam envolvidas, redimensionando o conceito de práticas educativas e o cotidiano como peça-chave da educação, vista como cultura.
Imersa na alegoria do medo e pavor, a lepra adentrou o imaginário social mundial e nacional. Transportada do Oriente para o Ocidente, chegou em terras brasileiras por meio do processo de colonização. A doença se expandiu em todo o território brasileiro, com números expressivos de contaminados. No período colonial, em que a ocupação da terra foi efetivada, os casos de lepra tornavam-se recorrentes especialmente em terras amazônicas (Brasil, 1950). Como inspiração teórica, para fundamentar o presente texto, utilizamos Bosi (1994), que possibilitou trazer as memórias como forma de reconstruir um passado histórico, por meio da narração, definida por Portelli (2016) como um tipo de fonte: a fonte oral. A instituição foi observada a partir dos conceitos de Goffman (1974) e Foucault (2014), analisando o espaço enquanto lugar de segregação e controle de corpos que foram submetidos a minucioso controle espacial e temporal.Palavras-chave: Educação. O presente estudo visa refletir sobre as contribuições das narrativas de memória de ex-internos do Hospital Colônia de Marituba/PA, nos anos de 1940 a 1970; memórias de um tempo vivido que permitem adentrar no universo cultural dessa instituição. Em formato de instituição total, o Hospital Cidade abrigou centenas de vidas para o tratamento da hanseníase. Utilizamos como materiais para a construção desta análise entrevistas de ex-internos da instituição, imagens sobre a instituição e jornais. As narrativas aparecem como uma forma de ensinamento, que aliada às iconografias, textos e testemunhos, tornam-se importantes fontes de evidência. Utilizamos como aporte teórico os autores: Bresciani e Naxara (2004), Bosi (1998), Burke (2017), Goffman (1994), Halbwachs (2003), Meihy e Holanda (1997). As narrativas e as imagens apontam experiências de vida do hanseniano, grupo que foi silenciado pela história brasileira. Marituba revela-se por memórias ágeis e pés cansados que ainda deixam marcas sobre as pedras da cidade.Palavras-chave: Memória. Narrativas. História. Hanseníase. Marituba-PA.
O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar alguns aspectos referentes à instalação do Educandário Nossa Senhora dos Anjos, na segunda metade do século XX, voltado unicamente à formação de meninas com base em princípios cristãos. As fontes são Louro (1994; 2003), Del Priore (2000), Scott (1995), Foucault (2009), Perrot (1995). Na segunda metade do século XX, as mulheres das camadas burguesas europeias e americanas passaram a ocupar espaços na sociedade, com a permissão de contribuírem com atividades à assistência social, no cuidado de pessoas e na educação de crianças. Este estudo destaca a necessidade de serem levantadas pesquisas na contribuição dos estudos de gênero. Na década de 50, a elite local de Abaetetuba priorizava a educação feminina. Homens e mulheres recebiam instrução no mesmo ambiente. Essa condição não agradava às famílias católicas.
