L’octroi du droit de vote à distance, le 13 juillet 2011, aux Camerounais vivant hors du territoire national est un tournant paradigmatique dans la vie politique au Cameroun. C’est une option politique du gouvernement qui fait émerger une compétition entre partis politiques camerounais, à travers leurs représentations étrangères qui assurent à l’extérieur une présence continue mais aussi à travers leurs cadres qui s’y rendent de manière ponctuelle. Si, dans l’ensemble, il s’agit d’une transnationalisation du jeu politique électoral qui démontre la recomposition du système des partis, cette dynamique de déterritorialisation de la concurrence partisane consacre cependant une continuité dans ce qu’il convient de retenir des partis politiques en tant qu’objet d’étude : ils demeurent des entreprises politiques engagées dans une compétition pour l’acquisition ou la conservation du pouvoir dans de l’État-nation. C’est ce qui ressort de l’analyse comparative entre le RDPC, parti au pouvoir, et le MRC, parti d’opposition, dont la conquête des voix de l’électorat émigré en Europe révèle leurs stratégies partisanes différenciées de compétition pour l’exercice du pouvoir au Cameroun.
