This study intended to evaluate the English as Foreign Language (EFL) learner responses to online classes during the covid-19 pandemic. It focused on the learner's insights rather than the teachers' views because the purpose is how the large population deals with technology during this pandemic. Though teachers are the real fighters, they are in a vacuum without the students' engagement. Therefore, this study showed EFL learners' readiness of using technology in attending online classes and what barriers they face during assessment and classes. It examined whether students can participate in group discussions, pair work, online assessment, respond to class, build their rapport, and get proper feedback or not. Data were collected randomly using a google form questionnaire having five elementary questions, fifteen Likert-type questions from 92 students of five private universities in Bangladesh. Besides, five questions were finally added to have an overview of multiple response analyses. Some imperative variables of flexibility, reliability, availability, and integrity regarding online classes were brought into light with descriptive analysis. Finally, the data were analysed in a qualitative approach. It shows that learners attending online courses and assessments are diverse regarding the availability of required facilities, and the students are having difficulties participating in online examinations. The result further implicates ensuring an intelligent learning environment in the 'new normal period' with more efficacy.

Article visualizations:

This paper depicts the current panorama of virtual learning of the tribal students in Bangladesh with the constrictions and possible solutions. The study aimed to deal with the major issues about tribal students’ online education by bringing out the key restraints of their distance learning and the possible solutions. The researchers followed a mixed method using a 5-point Likert Scale to point out the learner sensitivities, an online Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to know specific information from all the tribes who participated in the study. Additionally, four different questions were also set for multiple response analyses. The results suggested that the tribal students have not agreeably received adequate facilities such as technological support, university funding, departmental encouragements, or monetary benefits from the quota system in the current pandemic (COVID-19) time to attend virtual learning sessions though they expect arrangements and future steps for academic learning. All institutions also could not provide them adequate opportunities to attend online classes. In conclusion, the study proposed some imperative measures for example, inclusion of flipped classroom, introducing blended learning henceforth, revising quota facilities, adequate electricity support and internet connection, to help the tribal students as they should not get deprived.
While the world is experiencing a severe global crisis for the Covid-19 pandemic, the academic education sectors of several developing countries face formidable challenges, including Bangladesh. The current study aimed at finding out the barriers and possibilities for blended learning in the new normal situation in the education sector of Bangladesh. The researcher followed a descriptive approach with reviews of related literature and conducted Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with twenty-one university teachers to collect data and develop the study. The study found some challenges for blended education, e.g., poverty, lack of familial and institutional support, inadequate internet facilities, untrained teachers for using technological gadgets, electricity issues in rural and coastal areas. Still, the study found prospects to deploy blended learning and flipped classrooms in the post-pandemic period because of the countenance of 71.43% of participants. Finally, the study recommended some possible strategies in the new normal life for a more balanced educational system, particularly at the tertiary level.
The study investigated the circumstances of teacher leadership concerning the policies, practices and challenges in secondary educational institutions in Bangladesh. Teachers are the per se leaders in society. A teacher being a leader, should possess a vision, a philosophical and superior lifestyle of an ideal leader. Students get attracted to their personalities and classroom teaching. As leaders, they share the leadership vision of the principal being practiced. Without principal leadership, teachers cannot contribute to educational development. Four secondary-level institutions were considered to collect the relevant data through informal meetings, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Two institutions were selected from the capital city Dhaka and the other two from the commercial town Chattogram. Twelve teachers and four principals were selected randomly. Findings show that teachers in secondary educational institutions lack the leadership qualities. Some of them are involved in coaching and private tuition primarily. Moreover, a rock-hard top-down educational administration has been prevailing in Bangladeshi educational administration, making the principal and teacher leadership nonchalant.
The present study investigated the probable sustainability and effectiveness of e-learning in English language teaching (ELT) to learners in an English as a foreign language (EFL) classroom. Since the beginning of technology, it has always influenced our lives, thinking, and learning areas. One significant model in today's world in education is E-Learning. Today, one aspect of technology that has a considerable impact on our livelihood is English language learning in the EFL context. Data were collected using a Google form questionnaire with 20 close-ended questions with a 5-point Likert scale and analyzed in percentage. Ninety-two undergraduate EFL learners randomly participated in the survey. The quantitative method has been used to analyze the data. The results showed that integrating e-learning is a blessing to language learners though students face some challenges entirely using it. Learners have found educational technology effective in developing their fours language skills, including vocabulary problem-solving skills, performance improvement, etc. The study finally recommended increasing e-learning practices alongside the traditional approach in the EFL context of Bangladesh along with secured and controlled techniques.
