Purpose Antibiotic resistance issues associated with microbial pathogenesis are considered to be one of the most serious current threats to health. Fortunately, TiO 2 , a photoactive semiconductor, was proven to have antibacterial activity and is being widely utilized. However, its use is limited to the short range of absorption wavelength. Methods In this work, heterostructured TiO 2 -FeS 2 nanocomposites (NCs) were successfully prepared by a facile solution approach to enhance light-induced antibacterial activity over a broader absorption range. Results In TiO 2 -FeS 2 NCs, FeS 2 NPs, as light harvesters, can effectively increase light absorption from the visible (Vis) to near-infrared (NIR). Results of light-induced antibacterial activities indicated that TiO 2 -FeS 2 NCs had better antibacterial activity than that of only TiO 2 nanoparticles (NPs) or only FeS 2 NPs. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) measurements also showed that TiO 2 -FeS 2 NCs produced the highest relative ROS levels. Unlike TiO 2 NPs, TiO 2 -FeS 2 NCs, under light irradiation with a 515-nm filter, could absorb light wavelengths longer than 515 nm to generate ROS. In the mechanistic study, we found that TiO 2 NPs in TiO 2 -FeS 2 NCs could absorb ultraviolet (UV) light to generate photoinduced electrons and holes for ROS generation, including ⋅O 2 − and ⋅OH; FeS 2 NPs efficiently harvested Vis to NIR light to generate photoinduced electrons, which then were transferred to TiO 2 NPs to facilitate ROS generation. Conclusion TiO 2 -FeS 2 NCs with superior light-induced antibacterial activity could be a promising antibacterial agent against bacterial infections.
Mental disorder can occus in all people, either children, adults or elderly. Mental disorder also can occurs anywhere, either people that living in cities or villages. The caused of mental disorder derived from biological, psychological and social aspects. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that caused mental disorder. The methodology of this study was quantitative descriptive using purposive sampling for 9 weeks. The sample of this study was 46 respondents. The results showed that the most predispocing factor was the client ever experienced previous mental disorder before, personality type and unemployment client, and the most precipitation factor was withdrawal, an unpleasant experience and conflicts with family and friends. Based on the results of this study expected that the nursing intervention for client with mental disorder not only treating the signs and symtoms but also preventing mental disorder to overcome/reduce the factors.; Keywords: mental disorder, etyology, and analysis of factor
Relaxation techniques are increasingly being done because it proved effective in reducing tension and anxiety. Purpose this study was to determine the effect of relaxation techniques to decrease blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The design of this study is the Pre Experimental Designs with a kind of One Group Pretest-posttest Designs. Populations of all citizens of hypertension in August 2011 obtained 21 respondents using Simple Random Sampling, sample a total of 11 respondents. Independent research variables in this study are relaxation techniques and the dependent variable is a decrease in blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The collection of data using counseling and observation. Using interval scale data processing through editing, coding, tabulating and scoring. Analyze data using the Wilcoxon match pairs - test. The results of the 11 respondents found 9 respondents (82%) experienced a decrease in blood pressure and second respondents (18%) did not decrease blood pressure. From the research we can conclude there is the influence of relaxation techniques to decrease blood pressure in hypertensive patients. It is influenced by the age of respondents and the respondents' psychological condition. It is hoped the community can continue to apply in families with hypertension, one of the methods of blood pressure reduction through non-pharmacological methods to perform breathing relaxation techniques in addition to pharmacological therapy.; Key words: influence, relaxation, decreased blood pressure
