Stunting is a condition where toddlers have a body length or height that is less than their age. Stunting can have an impact on growth and development both in the long term and, so it needs prevention or treatment. Posyandu cadres play an important role in preventing and overcoming stunting in the community. This activity aimed to provide education to posyandu cadres about early detection of stunting, stimulation of growth and development and balanced nutrition of toddlers. The method used were education through lectures and discussions, simulation practices, and mentoring cadres to families of stunting toddlers. The activity was attended by 10 cadres and assistance to 20 mothers of stunting toddlers. The data obtained showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of cadres and mothers of stunting toddlers regarding early detection of stunting, stimulation of growth and development, and balanced nutrition in toddlers. Empowerment of posyandu cadres needs to be carried out on an ongoing basis, especially as an effort to improve the knowledge and skills of cadres, as an effort to prevent and deal with stunting.
Acupressure is a non-pharmacological therapy that can be used to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients and can be included in the nursing care plan. Hypertension in Indonesia is 44.1% and the mortality rate due to hypertension is 34.1%. Hypertension data in Perumnas Public Health Center are 790 cases. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupressure on pain scales in hypertensive patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a sample size of 55 respondents with pre-post intervention. The results showed that there were differences in average pain scores between before and after acupressure intervention. Acupressure can be used to reduce pain better with a p value of 0.001. Acupressure therapy has many functions for physical health, one of which is to reduce acute and chronic pain. Pain occurs due to an imbalance of “qi” energy flow in the body. Acupressure will balance the body's “qi” energy flow so that it will relieve pain while curing diseases. This study recommended that health promotion measures be carried out on families and patients so that they can carry out routine blood pressure measurements and alternative treatments with acupressure therapy to reduce complaints due to hypertension.
Health practices during menstruation are an important issue. These practices consist of garbage disposal, water sanitation, and student behavior during menstruation. If the practice is not carried out properly, it will have a negative impact on the physical health and reproductive health of adolescents. This study aims to determine health practices during menstruation in female students at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in Kepahiang Regency. The method used is a qualitative study with a phenomenalogy approach. The sample consisted of 7 students who have experienced 6 menstrual periods and are willing to become informants, 1 UKS officer graduated from nursing school and 2 boarders who live in the dormitory. The analysis used is the Colaizzi technique. The results of this study obtained three themes, namely personal hygiene practice, exercise practice and fulfillment of nutrition during menstruation. The conclusion of this study is that the personal hygiene practices of most informants have been done correctly. Most of the informants did not exercise and inadequate fulfillment of nutrition during menstruation. Based on the results of this study, nurses who one of them role as education providers should hold educational classes for teachers, mothers and female students about adolescent problems and proper care, prepare independent educational materials that focus on personal hygiene practices, exercise and fulfillment of nutrition during menstrual period.
Cardiac arrest is an emergency that can occur inside or outside the hospital and has a high risk of death. However, the survival rate is higher if cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) first aid is given immediately. The patient’s family can give first aid in the form of hands-only CPR if the cardiac arrest incident occurs at home. Nowadays, learning to use hands-only CPR offline application on a mobile phone is one way to increase knowledge and skills besides being easy to access, we can also take it with us wherever we go. This study aims to determine whether hands-only cardiac resuscitation offline applications can improve family skills. This study was quasi-experimental, using a control group with pre-test and post-test designs. The experimental group used independent learning through a hands-only CPR offline application, while the control group used a hands-only CPR simulation. The number of samples for each group was 17 people, with a total of 34 people for the two groups. Analysis was done using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney. P-value obtained was 0.000, so there is a significant difference in CPR skills before and after intervention in the offline application group and the simulation group. P-value obtained was 0.000, so there is a significant relationship between offline application and simulation in improving the skills of patients’ families in performing hands-only CPR. Learning through a CPR hand-only application improves the skills of the family of patients with heart disease to perform hands-only CPR. Meanwhile, learning with a simulation method has a higher rank in improving the skills of the family of patients with heart disease to perform hands-only CPR.
