Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is defined as the passage of ventricular content into the oesophagus. This is a common phenomenon in infants and up to 67% of 4-month-old babies have been reported to have daily regurgitation. 1 This regurgitation is mainly weakly acidic and considered a physiological phenomenon, since 98% will outgrow this by 12-15 months of age.
