Sanmarquina 2017; 20(2): 59-66 http://dx.doi.org/10. 15381/os.v20i2.13937 Conocimiento y actitud de médicos residentes de pediatría sobre caries dental en niños, ParaguayKnowledge and management of Pediatrician interns on dental caries in children, Paraguay ResumenObjetivo: Determinar el conocimiento y la actitud acerca de la prevención de caries dental en el niño, en médicos residentes de la especialidad troncal de pediatría, de la XI y XVIII regiones sanitarias (Departamento Central y Asunción) del Paraguay, en el año 2015. Materiales y método: Estudio de diseño transversal. Se administró un cuestionario solicitándose datos demográficos y académicos, el cuestionario contó con 10 preguntas sobre conocimiento de caries dental y seis preguntas sobre actitud. Resultados: Participaron 98 médicos residentes de la especialidad de Pediatría. Más de la mitad fueron egresados de universidades privadas (53,06%), procedieron de Asunción (65,31%) y fueron mujeres (68,37%). El 83,67% tuvo conocimiento insuficiente sobre prevención de caries dental, el 16,33% obtuvo conocimiento regular y ninguno obtuvo conocimiento bueno. El 96,94% mostró una actitud positiva, el 3,16% una actitud indiferente y ninguno tuvo actitud negativa acerca del papel del pediatra en la prevención de la caries dental. Conclusiones: En la mayoría de médicos residentes, el conocimiento fue insuficiente y la actitud positiva. A tal efecto, desde la formación académica se debería incentivar la promoción y prevención sobre salud bucodental del infante como corresponsabilidad del pediatra.Palabras clave: Caries dental; Internado y residencia; Paraguay; Pediatría. AbstractObjective: To determine knowledge and attitude on child dental caries prevention among pediatric interns of XI and XVIII sanitary regions (Central and Asuncion Departments) of Paraguay, during 2015. Materials and method: Transversal study. A questionnaire was administered requiring both demographic and academic data, with 10 questions on dental caries knowledge and six question on attitude. Results: Ninety-eight Pediatric interns participated in the study. More than half of participants graduated from private universities (53.06%), they were from Asunción (65.31%), and 68.37% were women. Insufficient knowledge regarding dental caries prevention was found in 83.67%, 16.33% had fair knowledge and none had thorough knowledge. Comportamiento clínico y epidemiológico de pacientes internados por COVID-19 en unHospital de Contingencia para COVID-19 de Paraguay, 2020 RESUMEN Introducción: La totalidad de las manifestaciones clínicas del COVID-19 aún no están claras hasta la fecha, ya que los síntomas reportados varían de leves a graves, asintomáticos, en muchos casos con una amplia variedad. Objetivo: Describir el comportamiento clínico y epidemiológico de pacientes internados por COVID-19 en un Hospital de Contingencia para COVID-19 de Paraguay durante el 2020. Metodología: Estudio observacional, descriptivo de corte transversal. Fueron incluidos en el estudio la totalidad de los pacientes de ambos sexos, de todas las edades, con COVID-19 confirmados mediante hisopado nasofaríngeo desde el 30 de marzo al 15 de agosto del 2020, que se encontraban internados en el Hospital. Resultados: Ingresaron al estudio 99 pacientes internados, de los cuales 34,34% (34) tuvo una edad igual o mayor a 60 años de edad, 59,59% (59) fueron del sexo masculino, 46,46% (46) tuvo algun contacto positivo, en el 16,16% (16) el contagio fue hospitalario, y el 20,20% (20) procedian del exterior del pais. El 87,87% (87) refirió fiebre, el 81,81% (81) disnea, y el 76,76% (76) mialgia y el 22,22% (22) fallecieron.Conclusión: La mayoría de los internados tuvieron una edad igual o superior a 60 años, fueron del sexo masculino y los signos y síntomas mas frecuentes fueron la fiebre, tos y fatiga. La mitad de los pacientes internados presentaron complicaciones y la mortalidad registrada en este estudio fue de 22,22%, lo cual correspondió a la totalidad de paciente internados en este hospital.

Considerando que 15% padece pie diabético a la larga, se deduce que es una complicación de trascendencia, por la morbimortalidad que conlleva. La fisiopatología comprende una compleja interacción de factores vasculares, neurológicos y biomecánicos. Una revisión física sistemática por parte del médico, la información suministrada al paciente, y las prácticas de autocuidado del paciente, representan pilares fundamentales en la prevención, pues una vez instalada, es de difícil resolución. Objetivo: Caracterizar las actividades de prevención del pie diabético recomendadas por el médico y efectuadas por los pacientes atendidos en el Hospital Central (Asunción) y el Hospital Regional (Encarnación) del Instituto de Previsión Social en noviembre y diciembre del 2015. Metodología: Estudio observacional, descriptivo de corte transversal. Resultados: De 228 participantes, 54,4% eran mujeres, 52,2% mayores de 60 años y 42,1% con nivel educativo secundario. Respondieron conocer la diabetes mellitus 63,2% y 59,6% expresó desconocimiento sobre el pie diabético. La mayoría manifestó haber recibido consejos médicos para el cuidado de sus pies y un alto porcentaje los practicaba correctamente. Conclusión: Aunque conocedor de su enfermedad, el paciente no dimensiona las complicaciones; y la falta de interés y/o tiempo en la consulta, lleva a pasar por alto recomendaciones que deberían ser sistemáticas, incluyendo la revisión de los pies. Es así que la implementación de programas se hace imperativa para bajar índices de complicaciones y a su vez, generar un gasto menor para el estado a largo plazo.
Introducción: Durante la pandemia por COVID-19, factores como cierre de fronteras, recepción tardía de vacunas, limitación de circulación de la población, reubicación de enfermeros/as de áreas de vacunación a áreas de atención de pacientes con COVID-19, sumado el miedo al contagio, afectaron las coberturas de vacunación en varios países. Objetivo: Describir la percepción sobre la vacuna COVID-19 y su efecto en la cobertura de vacunación regular de pueblos indígenas del departamento de Presidente Hayes, Paraguay. 2022. Metodología: Estudio observacional descriptivo, retrospectivo de diseño cuali-cuantitativo de corte transversal. Resultados: Las características de los pueblos indígenas revela que 110(26,44 %) se ubica entre 28 a 37 años, 276(66,35 %) del sexo femenino, 133(31,97 %) son de la etnia Angaité, 290(69,71 %) poseen estudios hasta el nivel primario y 178(42,79 %) de estado civil soltero. La percepción hacia la vacunación COVID-19 fue favorable en 201 sujetos (48 %) y muy desfavorable en 148 (36 %). Existen pueblos indígenas con gran influencia de creencias culturales y religiosas en relación con las vacunas. La vacunación regular se vio afectada. Discusión: Se observó que la pandemia del COVID-19 y la aparición de la vacuna desarrolló desconfianza no solo en la vacuna COVID-19 si no también en el resto de las vacunas en algunos de los pueblos estudiados
