El múltiplo que mide el beneficio por acción es uno de los indicadores frecuentemente utilizados por los analistas e inversionistas para evaluar las inversiones en acciones y también para medir el éxito en las empresas. En la medida que el beneficio por acción es más alto refleja una rentabilidad mayor tanto de las empresas como de las acciones. Existen estudios que han evidenciado que los beneficios por acción dependen del ciclo económico. En el caso de México durante los últimos treinta años se ha presentado varios ciclos de crisis y expansión económica. En esta investigación a través del Análisis de Varianza (ANOVA) se prueba el comportamiento de los beneficios por acción de las empresas mexicanas del sector industrial listadas en la Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, durante los distintos ciclos económicos ocurridos entre 1990 y 2020. En los resultados se encontró que los beneficios por acción cambian de valor según el ciclo económico, pero no todos los cambios fueron estadísticamente significativos y además durante la crisis de Cov-19 el efecto fue menor que la crisis de 1994. Lo que sugiere que este sector de empresas ha sido uno de los que menos han sido afectados por actual crisis de salud.
