La formación de especialistas en enfermería intensiva y emergencia se reinició en Cuba durante el desarrollo desbastador de la pandemia de Covid-19. Estos profesionales estuvieron directamente involucrados en la atención de los pacientes graves hospitalizados con la enfermedad, que les exigió alto grado de desempeño desde el punto de vista físico y psíquico. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal en la provincia Villa Clara durante el primer trimestre del año 2022 con el objetivo de determinar la presencia de Síndrome de Burnout en los residentes de segundo año de la especialidad enfermería intensiva y emergencia. A los 15 residentes se les aplicó el Cuestionario Maslach Burnout Inventory después de dar su consentimiento oral y escrito para participar en el estudio. Prevalecieron las mujeres entre 31 a 40 años de edad y con más de 15 años de experiencia profesional en cuidados intensivos, la totalidad de los residentes tuvieron niveles altos de agotamiento emocional y baja realización personal mientras que la mayoría presentaron niveles altos de despersonalización. Se pudo concluir que la totalidad de los residentes de segundo año de la especialidad de enfermería intensiva presentaron Síndrome de Burnout moderado durante la atención a pacientes con Covid-19 en unidades de cuidados intensivos.
Objetiv Evaluar la efectividad de un protocolo de cuidados en la prevención y el manejo de las ulceras por presión. Metodología Se realizó una investigación descriptiva, longitudinal, prospectiva en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Pediátrico Universitario José Luis Miranda de Villa Clara en el periodo de enero 2014 a 2015. El Universo de estudio fue heterogéneo: 945 pacientes pediátricos, 47 profesionales y 1572 familiares. Los instrumentos aplicados fueron: una guía de observación y entrevistas a profesionales y familiares. Para medir el riesgo de úlceras por presión en los pacientes se utilizó la escala Sarduy. Resultados Las acciones evaluadas en la guía de observación, según el protocolo de cuidados, se ejecutaron en más de un 93,0% y todos los profesionales y familiares encuestados catalogaron como excelente y muy buena su implementación. Sólo se observó la aparición de nuevas lesiones en 2 pacientes que se habían declarado como de riesgo máximo para padecer úlceras por presión y cuya aplicación del protocolo de cuidados fue parcialmente correcta. Conclusiones Se evaluó la implementación del protocolo de cuidados como efectivo ya que después de su aplicación n lesiones en el 98,6% de los pacientes estudiados.
El análisis de la resiliencia en estudiantes de enfermería constituye un punto de corte entre lo que ellos han vivido y como son capaces de manifestarse a partir de una circunstancia como lo ha sido la pandemia de Covid 19. Determinar la capacidad de resiliencia y las estrategias de afrontamiento utilizadas por los estudiantes durante la pandemia de Covid 19. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal en el tercer trimestre del año 2021. La población estuvo constituida por 11 estudiantes de la carrera de Licenciatura en Enfermería. Para recolectar la información se solicitó la autorización de las autoridades de la facultad; luego, se contactaron a los estudiantes, se les explicó el objetivo y el alcance de la investigación, y se les pidió que firmaran voluntariamente el consentimiento informado. Se aplicaron dos instrumentos la Escala de Resiliencia de Wagnild y Young, además la Escala Coping Modificada. Tanto en el Factor I Competencia personal como en el Factor II Aceptación de uno mismo las dimensiones satisfacción personal, ecuanimidad y perseverancia fueron las de mejores puntuaciones. La capacidad de resiliencia de los estudiantes de la carrera de Licenciatura en Enfermería que cursan el quinto año vertical en cuidados intensivos fue alta, las estrategias de afrontamiento más utilizadas por estos durante la pandemia de Covid 19 fueron apoyo social, resolución de problemas, apoyo profesional y evitación emocional.
ResumenIntroducción: A través de la historia en el tratamiento de las enfermedades, en especial las psíquicas, se han usado métodos y mecanismos naturales. En esa amplia gama de mecanismos figura la acupuntura, el masaje, la homeopatía y la terapia floral.Objetivo: evaluar la efectividad de la aplicación de masaje facial en la evolución de los pacientes hospitalizados con terapia electroconvulsiva.Métodos: Se realizó una investigación cuasiexperimental de intervención y comparación en el Hospital Psiquiátrico de Villa Clara, de abril a junio de 2014, el universo de estudio fueron 124 pacientes que recibieron terapia electroconvulsiva, 62 de ellos formaron parte del grupo estudio a los que se les aplicó masaje facial, el resto entraron a formar parte del grupo control los que no recibieron masaje facial, no existió aleatorización para conformar los grupos, se realizo a través de un muestreo no probabilístico intencional u opinatico. La técnica empleada fue el masaje Tuina.Resultados: El grupo de edades más representado fue de 36 -45 años y el sexo que prevaleció fue el masculino. Los efectos colaterales en el grupo estudio, se evidenciaron en solo 9.6% de los pacientes y el consumo de medicamentos por esta causa fue menor en el 90.3%. La evolución en el grupo estudio fue satisfactoria en 56 (90.3%) pacientes, mientras que en el grupo control solo en 28 (45.17%).Conclusiones: La aplicación de masaje facial resultó efectivo en los pacientes hospitalizados con terapia electroconvulsiva porque el grupo estudio presentó una evolución clínica satisfactoria, no hubo variación en la dosis farmacológica, se atenuaron los efectos colaterales y tuvo buena aceptación por los pacientes.
