Este estudo objetiva descrever o significado da braquiterapia pélvica e dos seus efeitos na percepção das mulheres no seguimento do tratamento. Trata-se de pesquisa narrativa realizada no Centro de Pesquisas Oncológicas (Santa Catarina/ Brasil), incluindo 34 mulheres com câncer ginecológico, em seguimento no serviço de fisioterapia após término do tratamento. Coleta de dados por entrevista semiestruturada submetidas à análise de conteúdo. Referencial teórico sustentado pela Teoria do Conforto. Dos resultados destaca-se: 88,25% com câncer de colo do útero, média de idade de 54,4 anos, 26,47% dos 30-39 anos, 41,17% com estadiamento IIB, 88,25% não histerectomizadas. O significado encontrado nas narrativas, declaram as dificuldades para obtenção do diagnóstico, enfrentamento do câncer, da braquiterapia e dos efeitos adversos como alterações genito-urinárias, intestinais e sexuais ocasionando conforto prejudicado e/ou desconfortos. O apoio profissional e o autocuidado são percebidos como auxílio ao conforto. A sala de espera significa conforto ou desconforto. Constata-se que os significados da terapêutica e de seus efeitos evidenciam os enfrentamentos vividos e que as mulheres necessitam de apoio profissional, o que reforça a importância da educação em saúde e da avaliação clínica durante e após a braquiterapia para prevenção, controle, autocuidado dos efeitos adversos e atenção oncológica para melhor qualidade de vida. Para redução dos desconfortos, intervenções clínicas e o uso de tecnologias educativas podem permitir melhor alívio, tranquilidade e favorecer a transcendência da mulher com câncer ginecológico.
Introdução: O ambiente oncológico, por si só, já e um local que frequentemente expõe os profissionais que ali trabalham a enfrentar vivencias e experiencias de sofrimento no dia a dia pelas características da própria patologia. Objetivo: Verificar e analisar as evidencias do impacto da doença pelo coronavírus 2019 (covid-19) sobre a saúde mental de profissionais de saúde que atuam na area da oncologia. Método: Pesquisa realizada nas bases Web of Science, PubMed, MEDLINE via Ovid, CINAHL via EBSCO e Embase, e avaliação segundo a metodologia STROBE. Resultados: Foram incluídos nove artigos, evidenciando a fragilidade do sistema de saúde do mundo inteiro diante de uma pandemia e afetando a saúde tanto dos pacientes quanto dos profissionais de saúde, em especial os que estavam na chamada “linha de frente”. Esses fatores provocaram altas cargas de tensão, medo, insegurança e insatisfação profissional. Conclusão: Estratégias de prevenção de doenças emocionais relacionadas ao trabalho especifico dos profissionais de saúde que atuem na área da oncologia devem ser implementadas para preservar a saúde mental dos profissionais.
