One of the goals of psychiatric social rehabilitation treatment is to improve patients’ emotion recognition, emotional expression, and empathetic abilities. In this study, we used a quasi‐experimental, nonrandomized design to examine the effect of an emotion management programme on the emotion recognition (emotion attention and emotion clarity), emotional expression (positive expressivity, negative expressivity, and impulse strength), and quality of life (QoL) of a sample of patients with schizophrenia in South Korea. Over eight sessions, we collected data from 56 patients with schizophrenia registered in community mental rehabilitation facilities. After attending the emotion management programme, the emotion recognition, emotional expression, and QoL scores of the experimental group were found to have significantly increased, whereas those of the control group had significantly decreased. Therefore, our findings show that emotion management programmes can be used as nursing interventions to improve the QoL of people with schizophrenia.
Bladder cancer is commonly diagnosed by evaluating the tissue morphology through cystoscopy, and tumor resection is used as the primary treatment approach. However, these methods are limited by lesion site specificity and resection margin, and can thereby fail to detect cancer lesions at early stages. Nevertheless, rapid diagnosis without biopsy may be possible through fluorescence sensing. Herein, we describe a minimally invasive imaging system capable of sensing even small tumors through a 1.2 mm diameter flexible fiber bundle microprobe. We demonstrate that this new device can be used for the early diagnosis of bladder cancer in rats. Bladder cancer was induced in rats using the carcinogen N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl)nitrosamine (BBN), and a togglable filter capable of PpIX fluorescence sensing was installed in the microendoscopic system. Following 5-aminolevulinic acid administration, tissue in the early stages of bladder cancer was successfully identified with fluorescence detection and confirmed with hematoxylin/eosin and ferrochelatase staining. Although the time required for BBN to induce bladder cancer varied between 3 and 4 weeks among the rats, the microendoscopic system allowed the minimally invasive follow-up on cancer development.
Owing to the increase in consumption of multimedia content and the improvement of device capacity, user demand for high-quality content has increased. However, it is difficult to transport such large amounts of content over the existing broadcasting network with limited bandwidth. To provide high-definition broadcasting, some studies suggest methods of transporting multimedia over heterogeneous networks after encoding content hierarchically. MPEG Media Transport (MMT), standardized by Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG), is a solution that enables large-volume media transport over heterogeneous networks such as digital broadcasting networks and packet-switched networks. In the case of delivering a scalable encoded video over different networks, synchronization of each stream is an important issue. MMT defines a synchronization scheme, but does not contain sufficient functions to implement it. In this paper, we propose a synchronization scheme for media streams that are encoded hierarchically, divided into layers, and transported over heterogeneous networks. We implement our scheme using MMT and HTTP, and experimented using three encapsulated video streams with different durations. As a result, we show that the proposed scheme can reduce the waiting time to display high-quality video, relative to Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP-Scalable Video Coding (DASH-SVC) by requesting segments of enhanced layers after calculating the transmission time. Additionally, we find out that the selection of durations have a relation to the characteristics of the video.
