The hydrogen embrittlement (HE) fracture of advanced high-strength steels used in lightweight automobiles has received increasing public attention. The source, transmission, and movement of hydrogen, characterization parameters, and test methods of HE, as well as the characteristics and path of HE fractures, are introduced. The mechanisms and modes of crack propagation of HE and hydrogen-induced delayed fracture are reviewed. The recent progress surrounding micro and macro typical fracture characteristics and the influencing factors of HE are discussed. Finally, methods for improving HE resistance can be summarized as follows: (1) reducing crystalline grain and inclusion sizes (oxides, sulfides, and titanium nitride), (2) controlling nano-precipitates (niobium carbide, titanium carbide, and composite precipitation), and (3) increasing residual austenite content under the reasonable tension strength of steel.

v PrefaceFollowing the first international conference ICHSU2014, presently, with the press hardening technology making progress and continuing to achieve industrial applications, we are eager to expand the academic exchange and business connection through this platform. In the rapidly growing market of advanced high strength steel and press hardening, the essentiality of the availability of comprehensive knowledge for the exploration of the corporate economical potential of this technology, and to gain and sustain competitiveness is extremely important. We have realized that research and development, at academic and industrial application levels, is one of the most important prerequisites for continuing innovation.Under this background, the 2 nd International Conference on Advanced High Strength Steel and Press Hardening (ICHSU2015) is held in Changsha, China. The purpose of holding ICHSU2015 is to satisfy the increasingly urgent requirement of reducing the weight of vehicle structures and increasing passenger safety. This conference arouses great interests and attentions from domestic and foreign researchers in hot stamping field, more than 110 papers have been accepted, covering almost all the current topics of advanced high strength steel and press hardening technology. The organizing committee are grateful to the great efforts of the editors, reviewers and publisher engaged in this conference proceeding. Our deep thanks also go to all the authors, speakers and participants for their great contributions to the success of ICHSU2015. We are looking forward to the next international conference on hot stamping in China. Yisheng Zhang and Mingtu Ma
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
