There is significant potential under-reporting of ADRs, which seems to be the result of several factors, including the lack of the knowledge of the national pharmacovigilance system.
AbstractThis study was conducted to determine sexual experiences and gender differences in sexual behaviour in university students. In this cross-sectional and descriptive study conducted between 1st February and 12th November 2017. A total of 491 volunteer students were selected at a state university in the Mediterranean region of Turkey using a systematic sampling method. Questionnaires were distributed to the students in sealed envelopes and collected on completion. The data were collected using a socio-demographic form and a sexual experiences and sexual health behaviours form. A total of 414 students (78 males; 336 females) were included in this study. The prevalence of sexual intercourse among these was 4.3%, and total oral and anal sex experiences were 35% and 16.7%, respectively. A significantly higher number of female students of those who reported having sexual intercourse (n = 9; 50.0%), oral sex (n = 81; 55.9%) and anal sex (n = 60; 87.0%), also reported not telling anyone about his/her partner (77.2%), not talking about sex (82.4%) and not buying contraceptive products, even when necessary (78.3%). Hidden sexuality was seen to affect female students more often and this may lead to risky sexual behaviours, sexually transmitted diseases, an unhealthy sexual life with multiple partners and even unplanned, unwanted pregnancies.
This descriptive study was conducted to determine the awareness of midwives and nurses regarding oral and dental health in pregnancy. The universe of the study consists of midwives and nurses working in all Family Health Centers (n=34) in a city center in the Mediterranean region, Turkey. It was aimed to reach the whole universe (n=119) without sampling, and 106 midwives and nurses who volunteered to participate in the study formed the sample of the research. The data were collected by using a questionnaire including 22 questions. In the analysis of the data, the Chi-square test was used in addition to descriptive statistical methods. The midwives and nurses stated that the most common dental health problem during pregnancy was dental caries (67.0%), and the oral-dental health problem during pregnancy can be associated with the low birth weight (32.1%). Participants had no idea about the relationship between oral/dental health in pregnancy and stillbirth and preeclampsia. Only 39.6% of them answered the question of whether women should have dental treatment in their pregnancy asyes, while 59.4% had no idea about the dental examination. Professional experience year was determined to affect the participants' giving more positive responses in some issues related to oral and dental health (low birth weight, dental X-ray) (p <0.01), and it was found that loss of teeth positively affected the state of giving education to pregnant women about oral health (p <0.05). The study showed that the awareness of midwives and nurses about oral and dental health during pregnancy was not at the desired level, and they should be educated on this issue.
Nursing students are role model related to health franchise play an important in oral health care and promotion. This study aim is assessment the caries and oral and dental health behaviors of nurse students who be able expected take upon the responsibility of oral health in future. This was descriptive observational study with cross‑sectional approach, conducted at a state university in Mediterranean, Turkey. The study population was formed from 34 nursing students who voluntary select to course of oral and dental health nursing. Firstly, data were collected by socio-demographic form and then all students had been examined by dentist researcher. It was determined that 76.5% of the nursing students included in the study had at least one tooth decay, 70.6% needed treatment, and 67.6% had debris. It was determined that there was a relationship between gender, floss use, mouthwash, regular brushing teeth twice a day before the age of 6, smoking, and D, F, M, DMFS, DMFT indices in those who were breastfed for >=6 months. Increasing the awareness level of students will have a positive impact on the health of the patients they will care for.
