ObjectivesThis study aimed to determine the prevalence of suicidal ideation among young and middle-aged adults, and explore the risk factors that affect suicidal ideation.MethodsA descriptive study design was used for secondary data analysis. A total sample of 5,214 was drawn from two waves (2012–2013) of the 7th Korea Health Panel (KHP) survey. The KHP data were collected by a well-trained interviewer using the face-to-face method during home visits as well as self-report method. Descriptive statistics of frequency, percentage, chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis were performed using SPSS 22.0.ResultsThe prevalence of suicidal ideation in young and middle-aged adults was 4.4% and 5.6%, respectively. For young adults, suicidal ideation risk was higher among those with low income or heavy drinking habits. In middle-aged adults, low income, poor perceived health status, negative perception of peer-compared health status, and negative social perspective were the major risk factors.ConclusionThere is considerable risk of suicidal ideation in adulthood. Opportunities for increased income, avoidance of heavy drinking, and the construction of positive subjective health status and social perspective should be considered in suicide prevention interventions for Korean young and middle-aged adults.

<p>Many small- and medium-sized car-part manufacturers are either still managing their mold manually or rarely managing it, and therefore, experience significant manufacturing cost and loss in time. In such a situation, a module has been developed in the present work which can count the number of mold used. Such a module is extremely important for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) applying which in the production line they will be able to manage the mold life cycle and improve product quality. This is expected to have both direct and indirect effects on their business activities. The developed system uses a photo sensor, distance measurement sensor, Atmega128 MCU, tablet pc and Bluetooth communication module. The actual module developed in this study was set up on a molding equipment for test and data were collected using an existing tablet PC. The test showed that the number of shots increased when the upper mold touched the lower mold. The maximum and minimum value between the upper and lower molds could be adjusted with the automatic mold shot measurement and management system. Therefore, any molding equipment with various upper-lower gaps will be able to apply the newly developed system.</p>

The F2 layer is the upper sector of the ionospheric F region, and it is ~250 km above sea level. It has a high electron density and thus plays an important role in shortwave communications. The variations of the critical frequency of the F2 layer (foF2) offer clues regarding the events happening within the entire F2 layer, and foF2 analysis is essential for stable shortwave communications. This study analyzes the seasonal and annual variations of the foF2 as well as the reactions of the F2 layer height at two locations in South Korea by employing the mean and standard deviation (SD) used in previous studies. To ensure a more elaborate analysis, the median and quartiles were used for analyzing the ionosphere. We thereby compensate for the limitations of the mean and SD in developing the SD, despite the convenience of the SD for probability analysis. The application of the median and quartiles for the analysis of ionospheric data led to analysis results with greater detail. This was achieved by determining the relative SD and concurrently displaying the outliers and range of variations

In the location estimation technology using WLAN, RSSI coming from each AP has a large deviation due to complicated and varying indoor environments. Especially when a laptop is used for work inside a building or when a location-based service is required, the AP needs to be changed depending on RSSI coming from the laptop or the type of work. However, most studies are about hand-over technology between different types of devices based on mobile devices with good portability. Hand-over technology is generally controlled and managed at the server to identify the AP information and select a network quickly. Though this is the best choice to select network and connect communication quickly, any mobile device that is not registered in the server cannot be provided with the service.The current paper proposes a network selection algorithm at the starting point of mobile device as a way to solve the problem through simulation and performance evaluation.

B<span>ecause oceans account for 70.8% of the Earth's surface, various Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications for the marine industry are being researched and developed. The success of an IoT technology in the maritime industry depends on the location tracking technology used and how far it can communicate. In this study, we implemented a marine observation system using low power wide area (LPWA) communication technology to provide maritime IoT services. The proposed marine observation system consists of a marine IoT module and an ocean observation monitoring system. The information collected is GPS information and communication signal reception strength. As a result of an actual field test, we were able to obtain the distance to the gateway by measuring the position through the marine IoT module, and we found that the intensity of communication was proportional to the change in sea level.</span>

Customized services for individuals in analysis of recently collected GPS information have been investigated in various aspects. As the size of collected GPS data gets larger, a variety of services is being released accordingly. Existing studies, however, are limited to presenting service models for users while there is little study on developing intelligent computing technologies in the introduction of GPS information into the system. This study suggests an algorithm to analyze traffic information by introducing GPS information into the system in order to take the lead among intelligent computing technologies. The suggested algorithm analyzes a map by means of the collected vehicle GPS information and sectional traffic information interpretation method; thus, the computer judges the traffic information collected by humans. The experiment result shows that the traffic information was properly analyzed upon the utilization of the given data.
