Introducción. Existen elementos adicionales relacionados al riesgo cardiovascular especialmente en la población trabajadora, tales como tipo de jornada de trabajo y el perímetro abdominal. Objetivo. Determinar la relación entre el riesgo cardiovascular y perímetro abdominal en trabajadores con jornada laboral atípica que trabajan a gran altura en el Perú. Materiales y Métodos. Estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño metodológico descriptivo transversal. La población estuvo conformada por 151 exámenes médico-ocupacionales de trabajadores de una institución pública de la ciudad del Cusco. La técnica fue la recolección de datos a partir de la revisión de los exámenes médico-ocupacionales y el instrumento fue diseñado a partir de la escala ACC/AHA ASCVD RISK, además se incluyó a este instrumento datos clínicos y sociodemográficos, que fue validado por comité de expertos. Resultados: El 72,2% de los trabajadores presentaron riesgo cardiovascular bajo y el 27,8% riesgo cardiovascular Elevado, además la relación que existe entre el perímetro abdominal y el riesgo cardiovascular es estadísticamente significativa (p=0.019). Conclusiones: Existe relación significativa entre el nivel de riesgo cardiovascular y el perímetro abdominal en los trabajadores con jornada laboral atípica que trabajan a gran altura en el Perú.
