Diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella, is considered the most important pest species of brassica crops and Euborellia annulipes can exhibit potential for its control. This work recorded the consumption of 4 th-instar larvae and pupae of P. xylostella by nymphs and adult females of the ring-legged earwig E. annulipes at different ages: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 days old. Nymphs in the 3 rd-instar and females of E. annulipes consumed daily more P. xylostella larvae than pupae. The consumption of diamondback moth pupae became constant as the 5 th-instar nymphs of the predator develop. In the other hand, the consumption of larvae decreases when nymphs are closer to molt. Female, regardless of its age, consumed more larvae than pupae of P. xylostella.

Fruit flies are pests of great agricultural concern, as they cause serious damage to the global fruit production. The diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), is the main pest of brassica crops worldwide. The ringlegged earwig, Euborellia annulipes (Lucas) (Dermaptera: Anisolabididae), has been reported as a potential predator of lepidopteran larvae, including this pest, and may therefore be used for biological control. Knowledge about predator-prey interactions is important to establish pest management strategies. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the developmental stage (larva and pupa) and density of P. xylostella on the preference and functional response of E. annulipes adult females. We used choice and no-choice tests to evaluate the foraging behavior and preference of E. annulipes on DBM life stages and varied prey density to assess the type of functional response of the ringlegged earwig. Larvae were preferred over pupae, and the predator's functional response was type II for both prey stages. Our results report the potential of E. annulipes as a biocontrol agent of P. xylostella. Understanding their interactions may help in decision-making and optimization of integrated management strategies.

Green lacewings can be mass reared to market their eggs. The ideal temperature is a main factor for egg storage or scheduling of insect production. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of Ceraeochrysa cubana adult feeding on incubation period and feasibility off eggs storage under different temperatures. Adults were submitted to four artificial diets: honey + brewer's yeast (standard diet), molasses + brewer's yeast, honey + bee pollen and molasses + bee pollen. Incubation period was recorded keeping eggs at six different temperatures: 21, 23, 25, 27, 29 and 31 °C. requirements. We determined the duration of the incubation period and egg feasibility of C. cubana. In addition, we estimated the base temperature (Tb) and thermal threshold (K) for the green lacewing incubation. Regardless of diet, incubation period decreases according to increased temperature, which is indicated between 21 and 29 °C for better development and egg feasibility. Adult feeding influences thermal constant, however, does not influence base temperature of the eggs, which varies from 15 to 18 °C. Our results can serve as a basis for the choice of adults' diet and temperature for the storage of eggs during the mass rearing of C. cubana.

The use of non-selective insecticides in agricultural production can reduce or eliminate biological agents that regulate insects that are undesirable to humans in production processes. Here, the toxicity of synthetic products on the parasitoid Encarsia hispida was evaluated, the host of which is the whitefly, Bemisia tabaci biotype B, found on cotton plants. The study was carried out using bioassays, in a completely randomized design in a factorial scheme. Pupae and adults of E. hispida were used in the bioassays, which had been sprayed with various chemicals (thiamethoxam, deltamethrin, imidacloprid, and pyriproxyfen) at different concentrations (1.0 g L -1 , 1.0 mL L -1 , 4.0 mL L -1 , and 2.5 mL L -1 ). The control treatment was distilled water. Chemicals were topically placed in the dorsal region of the tegument of 1 and 3-day old pupae. Then, between 1 and 15-days of emergence of adult parasitoids, residual contact bioassay were used to determine the toxicity of the insecticides. The insecticides thiamethoxam and imidacloprid were harmless to the pupal stage of E. hispida, but were harmful to the adult stage. The insecticides deltamethrin and pyriproxyfen were harmful to both pupal and adult stages of E. hispida. Neste estudo, o efeito da toxicidade de produtos sintéticos foi avaliado para o parasitoide Encarsia hispida tendo como hospedeiro a mosca-branca, Bemisia tabaci biótipo B, em algodoeiro. O estudo foi realizado através do uso de bioensaios, usando-se delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial. Nos bioensaios foram utilizadas pupas e adultos de E. hispida, as quais foram submetidas à pulverização com os seguintes produtos químicos: tiametoxam, deltametrina, imidacloprido e piriproxifem, nas proporções de 1,0 g L -1 , 1,0 mL L -1 , 4,0 mL L -1 e 2,5 mL L -1 , respectivamente, e um tratamento controle (água destilada). Foram utilizadas pupas com 1 e 3 dias de idade para exposição tópica, mediante aplicação na região dorsal do tegumento. Nos adultos do parasitoide, com idade de 1 e 15 dias de emergência, foram utilizados um bioensaio de contato residual para determinação da toxicidade dos inseticidas. Os inseticidas tiametoxam e imidacloprido são inócuos ao estágio de pupa, no entanto, os mesmos são nocivos à fase adulta de E. hispida.
