The WHO, by classifying the present global moment as a pandemic of COVID-19, the new coronavirus has become very present in all work and academic environments, boosting and mobilizing countless professionals and researchers to raise information and evidence about some form or virus control. The present study aims to verify the relevance in the literature presented on the mental health of nursing professionals. Through a systematic review with the descriptors "nursing", "mental health" and "covid-19", using the double-blind method, ensuring the systematic integrity of the review. In the first moment of the study, 389 studies were found, applying the exclusion criteria, an amount of 380 studies were excluded from the research, and only 9 articles were selected that met all the criteria established by the researchers. It was evidenced that nursing professionals have been affected by emotional disorders with manifestations of fear, anxiety, stress, depression, Burnout syndrome. Thus, it is possible to affirm that there is an urgent need for political and administrative measures that value care for these professionals who work on the front line in the fight against COVID-19.
