<p>El objetivo de este estudio de corte transversal fue comparar las prácticas en salud sexual y reproductiva de un grupo de estudiantes de ciencias de la salud y de ingeniería de una institución de educación superior en Bogotá, Colombia, en el año 2008. El tamaño de la muestra fue de 112 estudiantes de ciencias de la salud y 109 estudiantes de ingeniería. El 72% de los estudiantes de ingeniería y el 67,9% de ciencias de la salud tuvieron su primera relación sexual entre los 15 y 18 años. La frecuencia de embarazos es mayor en las estudiantes de ciencias de la salud (20% vs. 7,6%). El nivel de conocimientos en anticoncepción fue superior en los estudiantes de ciencias de la salud (74,1% vs. 50,5%). Se presentan similitudes en el nivel de conocimiento sobre las infecciones de transmisión sexual, 96,4% en ciencias de la salud y 92,7% en ingeniería. No se realizan la citología cervicouterina: 69,4% de las estudiantes de las ciencias de la salud y 61,9% de ingeniería. El 85,7% de los hombres en las ingenierías y el 58,3% de las ciencias de la salud no realizan el autoexamen de testículo. Se concluye que, pese a que los estudiantes de ciencias de la salud tienen un mayor nivel de conocimiento relacionado con la salud sexual y reproductiva, los resultados indican similitudes al compararlos con ingeniería; por lo tanto, tener formación en este aspecto no siempre significa que estos conocimientos sean llevados a la vida propia para el ejercicio de una sexualidad responsable.</p>
Introducción: La copa menstrual (CM) es un dispositivo diseñado para apoyar a la mujer durante el manejo de su higiene menstrual. Objetivo: Caracterizar la literatura existente en torno al uso de la CM, como una alternativa de higiene femenina. Metodología: Revisión de la literatura de estudios publicados en los metabuscadores Proquest, Google Scholar, Pubmed y a través del rastreo manual de los artículos divulgados en revistas no indexadas a las bases de datos mencionadas. Los términos MESH fueron combinados con operadores booleanos permitiendo la elaboración de ecuaciones de búsqueda. Posterior a la selección de los estudios catalogados como elegibles, los investigadores procedieron a implementar las listas de verificación propuestas por la Critical Appraisal Skills Programme español (CASPe) y la Iniciativa MINCIR. Resultados: Fueron incluidos 21 estudios que superaron el 75% de los criterios evaluados en las listas de verificación. El proceso de sistematización de los datos expresados en los estudios permitió la constitución de tres ejes temáticos sobre los cuales gira la literatura en esta área, que corresponden a: I. La CM en el desarrollo de la higiene femenina, II. Beneficios y desventajas del uso de la CM, III. Factores socioculturales asociados a la higiene menstrual. Conclusiones: La CM es un dispositivo que puede aportar grandes beneficios a la higiene menstrual como un elemento moderno, discreto, económico y amigable con el medio ambiente.
Fueron analizados los factores que condicionan la generación y modificación de los estilos de vida saludables en un grupo de familias que asiste a una institución que presta servicios en salud, en una ciudad de Colombia. El diseño del estudio fue mixto, la muestra estuvo conformada por 119 participantes que diligenciaron el cuestionario denominado Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II) o Perfil de los estilos de vida promotores de salud de Nola Pender, mientras que la saturación teórica del diseño cualitativo se alcanzó en la entrevista número 22. El estudio se catalogó de bajo riesgo. El promedio de los estilos de vida saludables de las familias fue de 2,80 (± 0,32) clasificando su realización en “a veces” y “frecuentemente”. Entretanto que las categorías cualitativas interpretadas develaron la importancia que representa la continuidad de la vida en el grupo familiar, sumado a que es allí donde se elaboran y promueven conductas de diversa índole que favorecen o no el mantenimiento o alcance de la salud, y por ende de la vida. Se concluye que los factores condicionantes provienen de diferentes fuentes, las cuales pueden ser internas o externas al contexto familiar, como también al significado elaborado por la familia en torno a este tópico, y que hace que los comportamientos permanezcan, sean retirados o se trasformen según las necesidades en salud que se tengan a nivel individual o en el grupo en pro de su prolongación.
Objetivos: realizar la caracterización de la literatura disponible en torno a la calidad de la atención proporcionada por el personal de salud a la mujer que vive un aborto espontáneo. Metodología: se efectuó la búsqueda de la literatura en las bases de datos de PUBMED, ProQuest, BioMed Central, Science Direct y Clinical Key en el periodo de tiempo comprendido entre 2010-2017. Adicionalmente, fueron implementados listados de verificación para evaluar la calidad de la información dispuesta en las publicaciones seleccionadas; solo fueron incluidas las piezas que sobrepasaron el percentil 75. Resultados: se identificaron cuatro categorías temáticas relacionadas con el fenómeno de estudio, que para este caso hicieron referencia a la atención integral, la comunicación y educación para la salud, la actitud del personal, sumado al ambiente físico bajo el cual se desarrolla la atención de la mujer que vive un aborto espontáneo. Conclusiones: se encontró un consenso sobre determinados factores a tener en cuenta en el momento de proporcionar atención, porque permiten mejorar la satisfacción con respecto a la calidad de la atención dada a la mujer ante un aborto espontáneo. En primera instancia, se resalta la necesidad de proporcionar una atención integral con alto nivel de humanización y de apoyo emocional, que involucre la participación activa de la mujer y su grupo familiar en el afrontamiento de esta difícil condición.
