Green building is the foundation of the sustainable construction development. Construction industry with the high contributes with gross domestic product, has undeniable impacts on the economy. Although Green buildings provide a wide range of benefits for the society, green building development suffers from different kinds of market barriers in developing countries including Malaysia. In order to meet green building development in Malaysia, this study aims to investigate the level of developing green building in the current situation, to find important key players and to identify, and to eliminate the important obstacles to green building development. In this research, the respondents were randomly selected from the professionals of Malaysian construction industry across the country and the method applied for collecting data is questionnaire survey. All the questionnaires were sent out to the respondents manually or through e-mail. A total of 673 sets of questionnaire were sent out and 167 (24.81%) questionnaires were received. The quantitative method was used for analysing data through SPSS version 19. Based on the results, the level of developing green building in Malaysia is not satisfied and government has a key role in the development of green buildings in Malaysia. The main barriers can be listed as: lack of credit resources to cover up front cost, risk of investment, lack of demand as well as higher final price.
Industrialized Building System (IBS) is the new method of constructing building in the construction industry as a solution to improve construction image and performance. However this concept is generally accepted and applied in developed countries and some developing countries as well, does not have appropriate position in the construction industry in Iran. Most of construction companies in Iran still consist on conventional method instead of using IBS. This paper is attempting to find out the benefits and problems of applying IBS in construction projects, to identify the easiness of IBS usage for construction companies, to explore level of usefulness of IBS for Iranian construction companies and finally to recommend some solutions to promote IBS concept in developing countries. To collect data for this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted among the construction companies in Iran. A total of 827 questionnaires were sent out through mail and 117 of them answered. The respondent rate was 14.1%. It was perceived that, there is an acceptable range of knowledge on IBS among the construction professionals, but the level of the IBS implementation in construction projects was extremely low. Because higher cost, lack of expertise and lack of supportive rules and regulations.
The number of law carbon construction project had increased tremendously across Malaysia over the recent years. In fact, there is no doubt on the necessity of development law carbon construction and benefits that have for the society, specifically for the construction companies. In order to make significant inroads into the low carbon construction practices, the industry needs to improve its energy usage and natural resources consumed in all its construction site activities. This study attempts to evaluate the sources of CO 2 emission regarding water usage during construction project; secondly, to identify effective optimization method with regard to water usage in construction activities; and finally, to provide a plan of actions to minimize CO 2 emissions during construction activities. SPSS version 20 was used to analyse the collected data. 385 questionnaires were distributed to the construction companies in Malaysia. The findings revealed that, despite the importance of low carbon construction, not many companies are serious enough to cut down their natural resource consumption. The particular phenomena, myriad of contractors and construction firms in Malaysia have not yet paid attention binding themselves to carbon construction and green building's constitution in general by contrast to common construction activity. The location of the site for water is the main way for the law carbon construction and has been highlighted as the main reason of ignorance of the current situation within the construction sector. Indeed, introducing optimization methods is vital for contractors and supervisors of the sites to be motivated regarding inequality on usage of water during construction project, which lead to carbon dioxide creation. In addition to optimization water consumption, monitoring the usage of water during construction activity can play as a main role.
