Present work contains kinetic data of oxidation of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate in presence of phthalocyanine catalysts. It is shown that nature of peripheral substituent has a great influence on self-association of phthalocyanines and on its catalytic activity. Oxidation mechanism of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate involving formation of triple complex of substrate, reduced form of catalyst and oxygen is offered. It is also shown that oxidation mechanism of dithiocarbamic acids is different than for cysteine.

Difunctional and symmetric phthalonitriles were synthesized by nucleophilic substitution of brome and nitro-group in 4-bromo-5-nitro-phthalonitrile for residues 4-amino-, 4-hydroxyl- and 4-sulfanyl benzoic acid. Symmetrical and difunctional substituted cobalt phthalocyanines were obtained by template synthesis based on mentioned phthalonitriles. Their spectral properties and catalytic activity in aerobic oxidation of sodium [Formula: see text],[Formula: see text]-carbomoditiolate were investigated.

A method is proposed for the preparation of stable sols of nanocrystalline cerium dioxide in nonpolar solvents, based on surface modification of CeO2 nanoparticles obtained by thermal hydrolysis of concentrated aqueous solutions of ammonium cerium(IV) nitrate with residues of 2-ethylhexanoic and octanoic acids. The synthesis was carried out at temperatures below 100 °C and did not require the use of expensive and toxic reagents. An assessment of the radical-scavenging properties of the obtained sols using the superoxide anion-radical neutralization model revealed that they demonstrate notable antioxidant activity. The results obtained indicate the potential of the nanoscale cerium dioxide sols in nonpolar solvents to be used for creating nanobiomaterials possessing antioxidant properties.
