Doctors usually require patients' medical records before medical examinations. Nevertheless, obtaining such records may take time. Hence, Near Field Communication (NFC) could be used to store and send medical records between doctors and patients. Another issue is that there could be a threat such as, Man In The Middle Attack and eavesdropping, thus, a security method is required to secure the data. Furthermore, the information regarding the key and initialisation vector in NFC cannot be sent using one data package, hence, the data transmission should be done several times. Therefore, the initialisation vector that changed in each transmission is implemented, and the key utilised is based on the component agreed by both parties. This study aims at applying the cryptography process that does disturb and hinder the speed of data transmission. The result demonstrated that the data transmitted could be secured and the encryption process did not hinder data exchange. Also, different number of characters in plaintexts required different amount of time for encryption and decryption. It could be affected by the specifications of the devices used and the processes happening in the devices.
The popularity of public transportation has increased as infrastructures have been repaired and other supporting facilities have been added. One of the facilities which can be added in the transportation system is the implementation of Near Field Communication in order to accelerate each transaction in the transportation system. In airports, transaction activities need to be done efficiently, like claiming baggage at the baggage carousel. The speed of transaction to claim the baggage depends on the number of officers, passengers, and the amount of baggage brought by the passengers. In the conventional system, the most effective way of getting the maximum speed of transaction is to have officers as many as the number of passengers, but this is not efficient regarding the use of human resources. The use of Near Field Communication can solve the problem related to the efficiency of resources, safety, and the increasing speed of transaction.
Near Field Communication (NFC) technology enables mobile phones to store important data safely and reliably. The data can be sent to another phone equipped with NFC or read by NFC reader. Through special applications the data can also be added, subtracted, or modified. This NFC capability allows the phone to be developed into a device that can store important data such as e-money or electronic medical records. In this research has been developed medical record system based on Near Field Communication (NFC). The results of alpha and beta testing show that the developed application has good performance.
Airline ticket reservations can be completed via ticket counters or online. To reduce passenger data redundancy, Single Identity (SI) may be required to input passenger data. In Indonesia, SI is utilised in identity cards using Near Field Communication (NFC), called electronic <em>Kartu Tanda Penduduk</em> (e-KTP). However, the use of e-KTP is not optimal yet because it is still used in the same way as the conventional one. Data input using SI can be done by tapping the e-KTP on a NFC-enabled machine, and the user is required to select the passengers’ names. The process of data input may be simplified, resulting in a higher transaction speed. This research result demonstrated that there was a slight difference of the time required between the two methods for ticket reservations. The time efficiency using SI through ticket counters was 48%, while the online reservation using SI was 45%. Further research may implement the validation methods, such as using PIN or fingerprint.
