AbstractHorizontal oil well drilling, completion and production techniques have continued to advance through the continued Mahogany field development by bp in Trinidad. The Mahogany field was initially developed to supply gas to Train 1 of the Atlantic LNG plant in Trinidad. The 21 Sand reservoir in this field is contained in two fault blocks having 60 and 72 foot oil columns respectively. The fault block V oil column was developed first and is overlain by a 300 bcf gas cap and underlain by water. The fault block IV oil column has been developed recently during the phase 2 Mahogany field development and has a 45 bscf gas cap.
The Tucker Wireline unit ran a suite of open hole logs right behind the RMOTC logging contractor for comparison purposes. The tools included Dual Laterolog, Phased Induction, BHC Sonic, and density-porosity. For this report, the logs were compared at picks based on three types of Tensleep lithologies: clean blocky sand, dolomitic sand, and a clean thin sand. Most of the data were comparable, and the differences are probably within the error range of the tools and supporting algorithms. There was an 8-9 ft difference in measured depth.
