Recently, unexpected disasters have increased the demand for utilizing multipurpose of city parks. As a means of mitigating to disasters damage, cases of introducing disaster prevention functions into city parks are increasing. This study is to examines the case of Japan where the disaster prevention parks was active and apply to regional units in Korea. The results shows that it is used the disaster prevention function such as evacuation, education, training and storage of relief goods and is used as a disaster prevention base in Japan's parks. Also, considering characteristics of Jeju-do, it is confirmed that the city park widely distributed in the province could be utilized. The results of this study would contribute to improve local disaster prevention level by introducing disaster prevention function to city parks.
