A preocupação com questões ambientais, gera discussões nas diferentes esferas de ensino e nos meios de comunicação, os quais alertam constantemente para os problemas ambientais, mudanças climáticas e catástrofes. A Educação Ambiental (EA) deve ser trabalhada no Ensino Médio como um tema transveral contribuindo para que o estudante tenha uma maior compreensão sobre problemas ambientais tão difundidos no cotidiano atual. Dessa forma, este trabalho teve o objetivo de avaliar os livros didáticos de Química indicados pelo Plano Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD) do triênio 2012-2014, em relação à temática de EA e a sua pertinência no Ensino Médio. Os assuntos avaliados foram: (i) uso de clorofluorcabonetos e camada de ozônio; (ii) efeito estufa e aquecimento global; (iii) chuva ácida e água: poluição e tratamento.Foram criadas três categorias de análise com o objetivo de direcionar a pesquisa nos pontos relevantes para o conhecimento químico a ser trabalhado em sala de aula. As três categorias são: (i) explicação teórica do assunto; (ii) compreensão do assunto e (iii) exercícios propostos. De acordo com a análise, observou-se que os livros de Química do PNLD se mostram adequados para a práticas de tais temáticas quando trabalhadas na sala de aula relacionadas aos conteúdos de Química.
A abordagem do ensino de química contextualizado no enfoque CTSA é um ponto complexo e significativo que orienta sujeitos para a sociedade. Essa proposta objetivou sondar o perfil dos professores, suas condições de trabalho, e suas concepções sobre a contextualização. A pesquisa foi realizada mediante aplicação de um questionário semiestruturado, em 18 professores da rede pública estadual e privada da cidade de Santa Maria, RS. Na análise dos dados, pode-se inferir que os professores são do sexo feminino, com mais de cinco anos de atuação profissional, com especialização, trabalham em uma escola, com mais de duas horas para planejamento das aulas e fazem curso de capacitação uma vez por ano. A maioria delas associa a contextualização com o dia-a-dia. As dificuldades encontradas pela maioria são a falta de tempo e motivação por parte dos alunos.
Este estudo visou sensibilizar os alunos a respeito da conservação e utilização das plantas medicinais como instrumento de Educação Ambiental e, como tratamento alternativo. Entre os resultados obtidos, salienta-se que 47% acharam-se confiantes na dosagem das plantas medicinais, razão de possíveis casos de intoxicações. E apenas 8% dos entrevistados compreenderam que a Educação Ambiental está inserida na questão social e tem como finalidade última a qualidade de vida dos povos.
