Holography is a photographic method that records the light dispersed from a body and then produces a realistic image identified as three-dimensional Holograms. The hologram reflects and transmits using a point source of incandescent light or two-channel transmission hologram. In the world of education, 3D holograms can be integrated into mixed reality classrooms to ease the teaching and learning process. The significance of this application is to enable the 21st Century learners to experience the realistic content via 3D Holograms, thereby improving their learning curves. This paper highlights the fundamental concepts of hologram and discusses the diversified implementations of hologram as a mixed reality simulator in the futuristic classrooms. Recent technological advancements in the field of education and evidence from successful implementation of the mixed reality approach in educational research has also been debated. However, the application of Holograms in education is still confined within boundaries.
There has a lot of improvements had been done on the diagnostic tools. Due to these improvements, most of the medical images are now migrating from 1D (e.g. cardiograms and encephalograms) and 2D (e.g. x-rays) images to extended 3D (e.g. tomography) and eventually 4D (3 spatial dimension + time) image. This migration process has let the volume of medical image become larger and become difficult to store. To overcome this kind of problems, most of the hospitals start to integrate the grid technology into their medical storage system. In this paper, besides presented the current related research projects in the medical field, we also briefly discussed on the details of medical data grid, and the strategies and techniques used in the video and image processing area. From the discussion, based on the parameters of the initial delay and the deadline miss, we found that the Fibonacci-based splitting strategy is the most appropriate strategy for used in the video images processing.
In 2021, visually impairment is still a serious problem in the world and there are no immediate and efficient ways of solving it. Hence, the purpose of this project is to develop a mobile application that act as a visual aid tool for the visually impaired people. Based on research, visually impaired people tend to depend other senses, for example, touching and listening to gather sufficient information for them to identify environment they are in and understand objects that are around them. Therefore, the opportunity is taken to conduct a research based on the purpose of this project, in order to improve accuracy of senses for human by using computer vision technology, helping visually impaired user to recognize and identify objects, texts and colours through mobile camera and transforming the information into auditory signal. Surveys and interviews were conducted on this project to identify and analyse the utility of the proposed technologies and application for normal and visually impaired users. Research findings indicate that the proposed application has the potential to improve the lives of people with visual impairments, and eliminate traditional unsafe practices.
Nowadays, videos and images dimensions are improved from 1D and 2D images into 3D or 4D (3 spatial dimension + time) images / videos. The improvement for these video data file were also increased the size of the data. Therefore, single and small storage is not enough for storing them. To overcome the problem, grid-based file storage service is introduced. However, the quality-of-service is very important for this applications and service. Therefore, several of quality-of-service requirements such as delay for data transmission, average CPU time per chunk used, and the total download time for a complete video file are need to be investigate. In this paper, our grid-based file storage test bed architecture, and the previous existing multimedia file splitting techniques will be discussed. Besides, our new multimedia file splitting technique – “Exponential-And-Uniform-based Splitting Technique” is also being proposed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
