Phlogopite-bearing ultramafic rocks (wehrlite, hornblende-clinopyroxenite) occur in the Mikabu zone of Sambagawa metamorphic belt, Japan. Phlogopites and their coexist ing minerals:olivine, diopside and titano-pargasite were analyzed by an electron microprobe. In the present paper the chemical characteristics of phlogopite and pargasite and the problem on the solid solution of Na-and K-phlogopite are discussed. Titano-pargasite and titano-phlogopite seem to have formed from a late-stage liquid trapped among olivine and clinopyroxene which crystallized from certain alkalic basaltic magma.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
