Resumo. O método de diferenças finitas generalizadas (MDFG)é empregado para a solução numérica de um problema de biotransferência de calor oriunda da presença de um tumor em um tecido saudável. O MDFG pode ser classificado como um método de discretização espacial sem malha, possuindo como principal vantagem a possibilidade do uso de grids irregulares diretamente no domínio físico. Sendo assim, uma discussãoé realizada em torno do tipo de suporte compacto, número de nós do suporte e topologia de tais nós bem como a influência de tais parâmetros na solução. A efetividade e eficácia do MDFGé demostrada comparando-se os resultados numéricos com os obtidos pelo método de diferenças finitas clássicas tendo como referência a solução numérica obtida pelo Método dos Elementos Finitos (MEF).
