This paper consists of a detailed comprehensive analysis of the client company satisfaction of services received at business incubator centers in the United States (USA) and Poland. This paper also includes how clients rated the importance of different services, which were provided to them at two business incubator centers; clients were generally satisfied with the services they received from the business incubators. Some services were not offered at both incubators to the same extent, which created discrepancy in the assessment results. The clients at the CAN-BE business incubator center already received extensive help from volunteers as well as Penn State faculty and students. However, the highest priority is still assigned to further increase those services. The client companies at the TECHNOPARK business incubator center received very limited help from volunteers, faculty, and students, as they assigned a low priority to those resources. The reason for that may be a lack of exposure and lack of understanding of the extremely valuable services provided by an incubation center. The aim of this article is to compare, analyze, and evaluate the operation of the GLIWICE TECHNOPARK and Hazleton, PA, USA incubation centers from a client satisfaction point of view.
Paper describes the continuous quality improvement procedures used by the author to keep the General Engineering program at Penn State Hazleton aligned to the needs and expectations of industry. The paper addresses the procedure for the development of program educational objectives which are the goals of the program. The goals of the program are defined jointly by industry leaders and former Engineering graduates as well as the Engineering faculty. The paper also focuses on the development of the student outcomes which is the body of knowledge that every graduate should have at the day of graduation. The paper also explains the process for collecting data for the purpose of assessing the level of attainment of program objectives and student outcomes. Based on the data which is being collected on an ongoing basis, the necessary corrective actions are implemented. This is happening on the program level as well as the course level. The necessary changes on the course level are happening every semester. The adjustments to the Engineering curriculum are being made yearly usually during the summer months. The paper focuses on the constant need for revising the curriculum in order to stay current with technology.
The article describes a comparative analysis of the mobility of the workforce in the United and Poland. The collected data includes permanent relocation as well as temporary travel abroad. Data also includes the reasons being taken under consideration while relocating. The paper also discusses the phenomenon of innovative people cloistering together and creating innovative cities. The article also addresses the influences of mobility of the workforce on innovative and entrepreneurial behavior. A comparison has been made between the innovativeness in the most innovative cities in the United States and Poland. This comparison also includes the percentage of people with higher education in the most innovative cities in the United States and Poland. The percentage of the immigrant population in the most innovative cities in the United States in comparison to the national average has also been provided. Since there is no accurate data related to the number of immigrants in the most innovative cities in Poland, a comparison between the United States and Poland was not possible.
Abstract. The aim of the paper is to present the functioning of the Organizational Model of the Business Incubator Center in Gliwice in the context of it's functioning and model of financing. In the paper there is the description of main definition related to business innovation-based incubators, and functioning of the academic business incubators. Then on the basis of theoretical background we describe and analyses functioning of TECHNOPARK GLIWICE.
The article presents selected post-industrial heritage sites in Poland and the USA. Comparative studies conducted by the authors concern economic, financial and socio-cultural aspects. The research methods used include a diagnostic survey and analysis of financial documents of selected post-industrial facilities in Poland and the USA. The authors carried out financial analyses of the functioning of selected post-industrial cultural heritage facilities. The aims of the diagnostic survey were to examine public opinion regarding the financing of post-industrial facilities and the interest of young people in post-industrial monuments. Furthermore, the researchers aimed to identify potential customers and determine the most effective methods of promoting post-industrial cultural objects and post-industrial tourism. These research results can be used by authorities managing post-industrial cultural monuments as a guideline for designing marketing activities and segmenting the market for post-industrial tourism services. This will allow marketing information to reach defined target groups more effectively. Surveys showed that respondents from both countries agreed about the need to protect post-industrial heritage. Significant differences in opinions concerned interest in post-industrial tourist offerings. In Poland, 88% of respondents believed that post-industrial facilities can arouse the interest of tourists, whereas only 28% of respondents believed so in the USA. This article considers the development of post-industrial tourism and the revitalization of post-industrial facilities from the new perspective of potential users.
