Alors qu’ils sont de plus en plus nombreux à l’université, on sait peu de choses sur les conditions d’études et le devenir des anciens étudiants handicapés. Des dispositifs de compensation se sont développés depuis la loi de 2005, et cet article, à partir de récits d’insertion de jeunes handicapés, analyse les formes de recours à ces dispositifs. Les quatre parcours types construits au regard de cette utilisation montrent le poids des environnements familial, associatif, universitaire et professionnel et mettent au jour des dynamiques identitaires particulières liées au handicap.
Nous développons un modèle dans lequel les travailleurs peuvent avoir tendance à trop travailler quand ils sont jeunes, parce qu'ils ne peuvent ou ne veulent pas voir les conséquences que cela peut avoir sur leur santé et sur leur capacité à travailler longtemps. Pour les obliger à mieux répartir leurs efforts sur leur cycle de vie, une taxe sur les revenus du travail en début de vie et une subvention de l'épargne sont souhaitables. Si la subvention de l'épargne n'est pas disponible, la taxe optimale arbitre entre quatre considérations différentes. Nous étudions également la taxe optimale quand les individus diffèrent en productivité.*
Que peut-on tirer des données statistiques disponibles aujourd’hui au sujet de l’insertion professionnelle des jeunes handicapés sortant de l’enseignement supérieur ? L’exploitation secondaire de l’enquête Génération 2004 (CEREQ, 2007 et 2009) fait apparaître des parcours de formation et des situations professionnelles relativement différenciés pour ces individus. Cependant, ces résultats sont limités. Les échantillons mobilisés illustrent les problèmes de définition et d’appréhension statistique de la population des anciens étudiants handicapés. Ensuite, l’analyse des tendances dégagées souffre de l’absence de certains indicateurs pouvant permettre de mieux comprendre les situations de handicap ou de participation sociale vécues pendant les études et la transition vers l’emploi. Cet article présente donc à la fois les résultats d’une analyse statistique du devenir professionnel de jeunes handicapés sortis de l’enseignement supérieur, et les difficultés rencontrées quand il s’agit de saisir cette population avec l’appareil statistique actuel.

Nous questionnons ici les usages de la Reconnaissance de la Qualité de Travailleur Handicapé (RQTH), et plus précisément son dévoilement au cours des premières recherches d'emploi chez les ancien•ne•s étudiant•e•s handicapé•e•s. À partir de la réanalyse d'un corpus de récits d'insertion, nous observons deux groupes qui vont dévoiler différemment leur RQTH (affichage sur le CV versus au cours de l'entretien). La visibilité ou non de leur handicap semble prédéterminer ces façons de faire.
