Although the majority of neoplastic lesions identified by colonoscopy were not detected by either noninvasive test, the multitarget analysis of fecal DNA detected a greater proportion of important colorectal neoplasia than did Hemoccult II without compromising specificity.
In this large phase III trial, the efficacy of DaunoXome was comparable to that of ABV. Response rates, time to treatment failure, and overall survival were similar on both treatment arms. DaunoXome is a safe and effective primary therapy for advanced AIDS-related KS.
DaunoXome has an improved pharmacokinetic profile compared with free daunorubicin, and is well tolerated. DaunoXome can be given safely at doses up to 60 mg/m2 every 2 weeks and has significant antitumor activity in patients with AIDS-KS.
Daunorubicin has been entrapped into small unilamellar vesicles (50-80 nm dia) composed of a 2:l mole ratio of highly purified DSPC:cholesterol. In earlier studies, liposomes of this size and composition had been demonstrated to deliver their entrapped contents selectively to a wide range of solid tumors in viva ~ ~ ~~
The cumulative 10 year lymphoma experience of a teaching hospital and two of its affiliated institutions was reviewed. From this group, a series of 39 cases of regionally localized primary extranodal lymphomas (Ann Arbor Stages IE and IIE) were selected for study. This group of patients was analyzed for response to initial curative treatment and factors influencing prognosis. The disease-free survival rate following initial treatment is 41% and the rate is 51% if those treated for a single relapse are included. Factors which clearly influence prognosis in this group are stage (extent of disease) at presentation and Rappaport histologic subclassification. The relationships of anatomic site and age to prognosis independent of other factors are unclear. There appears to be an association between sites of involvement in Waldeyer's Ring and the gastrointestinal tract seen both initially and in sites of relapse. An analysis of relapse patterns revealed that 33% of relapses occur as solitary extranodal "skip" recurrences that when treated with radical local treatment may result in long disease-free survival. The latter is one of several findings which suggest that a modification of the current Ann Arbor staging system may be necessary to encompass certain unique features of this group of tumors.
The concept of utilising greenspace to promote and maintain mental health predates the development of almost all current treatment modalities. Although the use of greenspace as a therapeutic tool decreased throughout the 20th century, research in this area has grown exponentially over the last 20 years. This review examines the theory and increasing evidence base behind the psychological, social and physical health benefits of viewing and interacting with greenspace, and considers some of the common methodological limitations within the literature. Those who use secondary and tertiary care mental health services typically experience secondary problems due to reduced levels of social and physical activity. This review argues that the holistic benefits of greenspace make ecotherapy particularly appropriate for such a population. The review recommends that the effects of ecotherapy on those who use secondary and tertiary mental health care services be explored as part of an effort to redress the absence in the literature of quality studies in this area for this population.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
