The effect of personality, demographic, and professional variables on nurses' experienced stress is examined through the use of the Nursing Stress Inventory in a midwestern Catholic hospital. Findings indicate that age, nursing role status, length of time since graduation, job tenure, area of nursing, and interpersonal needs are associated with various dimensions of stress.
Eating Disorders Inventory (EDI) is a significant and meaningful predictor of adherence in a dietary program employing a very low‐calorie diet. This study used multiple linear regression and discriminant analysis to examine the dietary adherence of 105 clients who were, on average, 91 pounds overweight. With three increasingly rigid standards of success, discriminant analysis successfully classified 74%, 71%, and 63% of clients as likely successes or failures using the EDI. Using the EDI scales as the independent variables, three significant multiple regressions equations were obtained that individually were predictive of total weight lost, percentage of weight lost, or weeks in treatment.
Large nuclear power plants are becoming increasingly difficult to site and build. The solution, say some nuclear advocates, is to give up on gigawatt-scale, bespoke plants and—following in the footsteps of other energy system—go small and modular. Small modular reactors (SMRs), which would generate tens or a few hundreds of mega-watts, would have a lower price tag and could prove to be safer.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
