that cognitive processes which combine modes improve recall and comprehension; he suggests that a combination of visual and verbal languages offers real advantages in communication" (Ref. 2 ) . Learning is facilitated by a dialogic interactive exchange where modes of communication unite more than it is by a static, didactic, one-dimensional product. Furthermore, that learned information is more easily recalled and less susceptible to loss.In discussing the benefits of online tutorials, Annette Bradford, an IBM information developer identifies the power of online systems in the interactive nature of electronic information systems: " I n t e r a c t i o n w i t h a computer constitutes a dialogue, and several pedagogical advantages are possible with this dialectic. Dialectic (as a cognitive/philosophical concept) can be defined as "Developmental transformation . . .which occurs via c o n s t i t u t i v e and i n t e r a c t i v e relationships" (Ref. 3 ) . The key term in this context is developmental transformation, the evolving changes over time which emphasize t h e f l u i d nature inherent i n interactive s i t u a t i o n s -i n conversation, in debates, and in computer dialogue -as opposed to the static nature of a lecture o r a book" (Ref. 4 ) .
This is an interdisciplinary study which constructs a dialogue between biblical interpretation and systematic theology. It examines how far a reading of the Book of Revelation might either support or question the work of leading theologians Wolfhart Pannenberg and Jürgen Moltmann on the theology of history, exploring the way in which the author of Revelation uses the dimensions of space and time to make theological points about the relationship between God and history. The book argues that Revelation sets the present earthly experience of the reader in the context of God's ultimate purposes, by disclosing hidden dimensions of reality, both spatial - embracing heaven and earth - and temporal - extending into the ultimate future. Dr Gilbertson offers a detailed assessment of the theologies of history developed by Pannenberg and Moltmann, including their views on the nature of the historical process, and the use of apocalyptic ideas in eschatology.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
