The Common Research Model with natural laminar flow (CRM-NLF) shows promising numerical and experimental results. This work aims at understanding the aerodynamic characteristics of the CRM-NLF wing under wind-tunnel conditions. The significant effects of turbulent wedges and static aeroelastic deformation are shown. Fluid–structure coupled simulations including laminar–turbulent transition with turbulent wedges show an improved agreement with wind-tunnel data made available by NASA when both effects are considered.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
