In this research, it was aimed to determine the level of knowledge of consumers about food safety in Konya central districts (Selçuklu, Meram, and Karatay) and to develop recommendations based on this information. The aim of the project is to determine the socio-economic characteristics of consumers, the factors affecting food purchasing and their level of knowledge on food safety. Methods and Results:The main material of the study consisted of data collected from 384 consumers in the center of Konya. Likert type scale was also used. Data were presented with cross-tabulation, and food safety information with some socio-economic variables were tested by variance analysis. According to the findings of the research, a significant number of consumers have heard the concept of food safety. However, it was found that more than half of the consumers knew the concept of food safety. There is a statistically significant relationship between the concept of food safety and the knowledge of ISO 9001, the information on the packaging, and the educational status of individuals. Conclusions: Consumers' knowledge of international food safety certificates and increasing educational level were increased food safety knowledge. Significance and Impact of the Study: Consumers' knowledge and awareness of food safety will be improved by increasing their education levels. It is important for the public to develop their work on awareness in this direction.
