Jumlah siswa berangkat menuju ke sekolah dengan berjalan atau menggunakan sepeda semakin berkurang, di mana para murid kebanyakan diantar menggunakan kendaraan bermotor pribadi ke sekolah meskipun jarak antar rumah dan sekolah berdekatan. Hal ini menyebabkan terjadinya penumpukan atau kemacetan di sekitar area sekolah pada jam-jam tertentu. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi mengapa mereka lebih memilih menggunakan kendaraan pribadi salah satunya adalah keamanan. Pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh berwacana untuk menjadikan Kota Banda Aceh sebagai Kota Layak Anak pada tahun 2021 lalu. Salah satu indikator dalam mewujudkan KLA ialah rute aman dan selamat ke/dari sekolah. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini dilakukan pada jalur pedestrian di sekitar MIN 6 Banda Aceh dengan radius lima ratus meter dari sekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui upaya-upaya yang harus dilakukan dalam mewujudkan jalur pedestrian yang ramah anak yang aman, nyaman, menarik, dan mudah dijangkau bagi anak-anak serta dapat mendorong minat anak dalam melakukan transportasi aktif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi lapangan dan kuesioner yang diolah dengan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat keamanan, kanyamanan, daya tarik, dan keterjangkauan pada kondisi eksisting jalur pedestrian di sekitar MIN 6 Banda Aceh saat ini masih kurang. Faktor keamanan dianggap sebagai faktor yang paling dibutuhkan dalam mewujudkan jalur pedestrian yang ramah anak. Dalam melakukan transportasi aktif diperlukan faktor daya tarik dan kenyamanan yang dapat menarik minat anak dalam melakukan transportasi aktif. Faktor keterjangkauan juga dibutuhkan untuk mempermudah anak dalam melakukan transportasi aktif.
