Bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerinin gelişmesi muhasebe alanında elektronik dönüşümlere neden olmuştur. Bu dönüşümler sonucunda muhasebe mesleğinde roller değişime uğramıştır. Artık günümüzde meslek mensuplarından genel muhasebe meslek bilgisinin yansıra teknolojik becerilere de sahip olması beklenmektedir. Bu çalışmada muhasebe mesleği için eğitimde verilmesi gereken becerilerin ortaya çıkarılması ve düzeyinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmamızda Türkiye'de lisans seviyesinde eğitim veren 64 üniversitenin işletme bölümleri incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonunda Türkiye'deki üniversitelerde muhasebe meslek adayı için gerekli olan mesleki beceriler, işletme bilgisi becerileri ve genel bilgi becerilerin yeterli seviyede verildiği buna karşın teknolojik beceri ve mesleki tutum yeterlilik eğitiminin seviyesinin çok düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada özellikle Teknolojik beceri (e-dönüşüm yeterliliği) eğitimi üzerinde durulmuştur.
Muhasebe mesleğini icra edebilmek için çeşitli niteliklere sahip olmak gerekmektedir. Türkiye'de muhasebe meslek elemanlarının iş piyasasında hangi niteliklere sahip olması gerektiğinin belirtilmesi, işgücü talebiyle arzı arasındaki boşluğun daraltılması açısından önemlidir. Bu çerçevede araştırmanın amacı Türkiye'de muhasebe meslek elemanı için aranan niteliklerin ortaya çıkarılması ve bu niteliklerin özelliklerine göre sınıflandırılmasıdır. Araştırmada muhasebe meslek elemanları için işverenlerin talep ettiği 81 adet nitelik tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bir başka bulgu da ortalama üstü bir muhasebe meslek elemanının 42 adet niteliğe sahip olması ile işveren taleplerinin büyük bir kısmını karşılayacak olmasıdır.
