International audienceHigh Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) is designed to increase the uplink data rate. To reach this goal, a new uplink transport channel, called enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH), is introduced to the UMTS physical layer. This channel is used in a multicodes transmission principle with very low spreading factors. Furthermore, it supports Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ), and a shorter 2 ms transmission time interval (TTI) optionally with 10 ms TTI. For determining the expected performance of HSUPA in a multipath channel, the sophisticated signal processing techniques supported by E-DCH channel must be simulated. Especially, the turbo decoding process makes the simulation very prohibitive and CPU-time consuming. In this paper, we propose a simplified simulation methodology which gives an abstraction of the system performance. Computer simulations show that the required CPU-time is significantly reduced
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
