After the Industrial Revolution that took place in the 19 th century, there has been a great change and transformation throughout the world. The most concrete example of the changes experienced in this period was the developments in the infrastructure and superstructure of the cities. These developments in Europe were not delayed to reflect on the Ottoman Empire. As a matter of fact, the zoning activities that started within the framework of the reform efforts implemented with the proclamation of the Tanzimat have emerged more clearly in the port cities. In this period, important development activities took place in Golos, one of the important ports of the Thessaly Region. The city is located on the Aegean Sea coast in Eastern Greece. The city, which is a small settlement connected to the Tırhala Sanjak, entered a rapid modernization process with the Tanzimat. Such rapid development and modernization are due to the geographical structure of the city. The lands of Thessaly, where Kaza is located, are very fertile, and the Port of Golos played an important role in the export of agricultural products. With the development of commercial activities, the physical structure of the city has changed. Highways were modernized and with the construction of railways, products in the inner regions were transported to coastal cities. With the arrival of the telegraph, commercial activities between different regions increased. At the same time, since it is in an important position in terms of defense, places for military purposes were repaired and built in the city. As a result of the reconstruction activities carried out, it has become a modern port city by showing great development in a short time.
