Background Nursing practice is centered on caring and nurses’ behaviour has an impact on the quality of patient care and it is predictive of patient satisfaction,however, many nurses, in reality, do not exhibit caring behavior when providing nursing care to clients. This study was aimed to assess the level and predictors of nurse caring behaviors among nurses serving in inpatient departments in public hospitals in Harari Region of Ethiopia from March 10 to April 10, 2021. Method A cross-sectional study was conducted among 300 nurses providing inpatient service in public hospitals in the Harari region of eastern Ethiopia. All permanent nurses working in major inpatient services of two public hospitals, namely Jugal General Hospital (JGH) and Hiwot Fana Specialized University Hospital (HFSUH) were included. The English version of the CNPI-Nurse scale was used to determine the level of caring behavior. The association was reported using the crude and adjusted odds ratios along with the 95% confidence interval. The statistical significance of the association was declared at p-value < 0.05. Result The caring behavior was classified as high and low based on the median score. According to this study only 51.67% (95% CI:45.97, 57.35%) of nurses had good caring behavior. The odds of having good caring behavior were 2.22 (AOR = 2.22, 95%CI: 1.20, 4.10) times higher among nurses working in good working environment compared to those who work in bad working environment. Nurses who were satisfied with their job had 2.79 (AOR: 2.79, 95%CI: 1.54, 5.08) times higher odds of good caring behavior than those who were not satisfied with their job. Similarly, nurses who had a lower workload had a 3.01 (AOR: 3.01, 95%CI: 1.70, 5.33) times higher probability of having good caring behavior from nurses compared to nurses who reported having a high workload. Conclusion The level of nurses caring behavior is not satisfactory and it is influenced by working environment characteristics, job satisfaction and workload. Therefore it necessary to creat conducive working environment, provide adequate time and resources inorder to improve the level of nurses caring behaviour.

IntroductionAcceptance of vaccination among Health Care Workers is mandatory to lessen and curve the spread of transmission of COVID-19. Even though the Health Belief Model is one of the most widely used models for understanding vaccination behavior against COVID-19 disease, COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among Health Care Workers in Ethiopia was not adequately explored by using the Health Belief Model domains.PurposeThis study aimed to assess COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and associated factors among Health care workers in eastern, Ethiopia.MethodsInstitutional-based cross-sectional study design was used among 416 health care workers selected by a systematic random sampling method from June 1- 30/2021. The data were collected by face-to-face interviews using semi-structured questionnaires and analyzed using STATA version 14 statistical software. Multivariable binary logistic regression analysis with a 95% confidence interval was carried out to identify factors associated with willingness to COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and a statistical significance was declared at a P-value &lt; 0.05.ResultsThe willingness of health care workers to accept the COVID-19 vaccine was 35.6% making a response rate of 99.7%. Age 30-39 (AOR = 4.16;95% CI: 2.51, 6.88), age ≥ 40 years (AOR = 3.29;95% CI: 1.47, 7.39), good attitude (AOR = 1.97; 95% CI: 1.00, 3.55), perceived susceptibility (AOR = 1.93; 95% CI: 1.12, 3.32), and perceived severity (AOR = 1.78; 95% CI: 1.03, 3.10) were factors significantly associated with Health Care Workers acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine.ConclusionThe willingness to accept the COVID-19 vaccine was low. Factors significantly associated with the willingness to accept the COVID-19 vaccine were age, good attitude, perceived susceptibility, and perceived severity of the disease. The low willingness of Health Care Workers to accept the COVID-19 vaccine was alarming and it needs more emphasis from the government in collaboration with other stakeholders to provide reliable information to avert misconceptions and rumors about the vaccine to improve the vaccine status of Health Care Workers to protect the communities.

The extent to which nurses tailor their care to the patient's specific needs has a direct impact on patient health outcomes. Satisfied people will have good communication with the health professional, which results in good care and health outcome, so this study aimed to assess the association of caring behavior of nurses with the level of patient satisfaction, in public hospitals of the Harari region, Eastern Ethiopia, from March 10 to April 10, 2021. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 300 nurses providing inpatient services and 345 randomly selected admitted patients in two public hospitals of Harari region, Eastern Ethiopia. Clinical nurse-patient interaction scale was used to assess the level of caring behavior. The level of patient satisfaction was measured using the patient satisfaction scale tool. We used structural equation modeling to determine the relationship of nurses caring behaviour and the level of patient satisfaction. The association was reported using coefficient (β) along with a 95% confidence interval. The statistical significance of the association was declared at P < 0.05. Results: According to this study, only 51.67% of the nurses had good caring behavior and 62.90% of the patients were satisfied with the nursing care they received. The nurses' caring behavior score was increased by 41% (β=0.41; 95% CI: 0.20, 0.63) and (β=0.65; 95% CI: 0.48, 0.81) as nurses' job satisfaction and work environment scores increased by one scale, respectively. Similarly, the score of patient satisfaction was increased by 2% (β=0.02; 95% CI: 0.01, 0.12) as the score of nurse caring behaviour was increased by one scale. Conclusion:Patient satisfaction increased as the nurses care behavior score increased, so nurses must continue to identify ways to evaluate and increase patient happiness, as well as illustrate the impact nurses have on patient satisfaction with hospital experience as a result of their treatment.

ObjectiveImmunization is still one of the best ways to reduce viral-related morbidity and mortality . Therefore, this study aimed to assess COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and associated factors among adult clients at public hospitals in Eastern Ethiopia.MethodA multicentred facility-based cross-sectional study design was utilised. The systematic random sampling technique was used to select 420 study participants. The characteristics of individuals were described using descriptive statistical analysis such as frequency, median and IQR. Mean was used for health belief model components. The association was assessed using bivariate and multivariable logistic regression and described by the OR along with a 95% CI. Finally, a p-value<0.05 in the adjusted analysis was used to declare a significant association.Outcome measureCOVID-19 vaccine acceptance and associated factors.ResultA total of 412 adult clients were interviewed, with a response rate of 98.1%. Of the total study participants, 225 (54.6%; 95% CI: 50.0% to -59.7%) were willing to accept the COVID-19 vaccine. Age≥46 (adjusted OR, AOR=3.64, 95% CI: 1.35- to 9.86), college and above level of education (AOR=2.50, 95% CI: 1.30- to 4.81), having health insurance (AOR=1.79, 95% CI: 1.11- to 2.87) and experiencing chronic disease (AOR=1.96, 95% CI: 1.02- to 3.77) were predictor variables. Also, components of the health belief model were significantly associated with COVID-19 vaccine acceptance.ConclusionCOVID-19 vaccine acceptance among the adult population was low compared to other study. Factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine acceptance were age, college and above level of education, having a chronic disease, having health insurance, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefit and perceived barrier.Improving awareness about COVID-19 among all sections of the population is crucial to improving vaccine acceptability.

Background Despite a crucial role played by obstetric care providers (OCPs) in providing pain relief methods during labour, the evidence suggests that there is a large number of women in Ethiopia who did not have access to pain relief methods. Moreover, to the best of the investigators’ knowledge, evidence is scarce regarding the utilization of pharmacological labour pain management methods in the study area. Thus this study was carried out to determine the practice of pharmacological labour pain management methods among OCPs in Harari regional state health facilities in Ethiopia. Methods A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted from 20 May to 10 June 2021 in Harari regional state health facilities. All (n=464) OCPs in Harari regional state health facilities were included in the study. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire adapted from previous studies. The data were entered into Epi-data version 3.1 statistical software. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS for Windows version 22. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to determine the association between independent variables and the outcome variable. A p-value &lt;0.05 was used to establish statistical significance. Results In this study, 464 OCPs participated. The overall utilization of pharmacological labour pain relief methods was 50.9% (95% confidence interval [CI] 45.8 to 55.8). The main barriers to labouring mothers receiving pain relief include high patient flow (54.4%), the limited number of staff (51.9%) and a lack of knowledge and skill (32.9%). Being female (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 2.07 [95% CI 1.31 to 3.26]), not having training (AOR 1.60 [95% CI 1.02 to 2.53]) and having an unfavourable attitude (AOR 9.1 [95% CI 5.34 to 15.35]) were the predictors of utilization of pharmacological labour pain management methods. Conclusions The study revealed that half of the OCPs utilized the pharmacological labour pain management method. In general, this study identified that variables like sex, training and the attitude of OCPs were factors associated with the utilization of pharmacological labour pain management methods. The health facilities should provide training to enhance the skill of OCPs and equip themselves with sufficient analgesic drugs.
