Suitability of 3 rd Grade Primary School Turkish Textbooks and Teacher's Book to the Constructivist Learning Approach AbstractThe importance of course books has been increasing in proportion to developing and improving technological capabilities. In order to assess the scientificity and the main approach that course books have adopted, it is necessary to analyze them. Course books which do not reflect the approach they have adopted may have an influence on the misinterpretation of that approach. In this study, the congruence level of primary school Turkish course books with the constructivist learning approach is examined. In this study, Turkish course books printed by publishing companies and distributed in sets of three as course book, workbook, and teacher's book were randomly chosen from among those that were available and were examined using the criteria developed through the survey method. Based on the analysis, it was found that in the examined sets of course books, there were some deficiencies and the books did not accurately reflect the constructivist Bu çalışma birinci yazarın yüksek lisans tezinden üretilmiştir.
In this study, the scale of “Instrument to Measure Trust in Science and Scientists” developed by Nadelson et al. (2014) was adapted into Turkish, and it was aimed to perform the validity and reliability studies of the scale. The original scale consists of 5 point Likert-type, single factor, and 21 items. The study was carried out with 236 pre-service teachers selected according to the convenient sampling technique. Some steps were followed in the adaptation of the scale. Content validity, construct validity, convergent and divergent validity were tested and reliability analyses were made. After the adaptation, a 2-factor structure consisting of 10 items emerged. It was accepted that the scale, in which expert opinions were consulted, is a valid and reliable measurement tool. Thus, a measurement tool that can be used in studies of trust in science and scientists has been adapted to the Turkish language and brought to the literature.
