Abstract-The 5G mobile network is expected to meet the diverse demands from multiple types of business services. At the same time, some of the 5G use cases come with hard, and often expensive to meet, requirements in terms of latency and bandwidth. It is a common understanding that one system can not fit all and there is a need for customizing network according to the requirements of specific business use cases. Network slicing is introduced to partition the physical network to different slices to be configured for providing different quality of service as requested by the slice' operator and required by the slice' users. Since these slices will be used by the businesses, e.g. verticals, allocating physical resources to the network slices, is not anymore only a matter of performance but also a matter of revenue and business model. In this paper, we address a joint resource and revenue optimization a novel auction based model. Through extensive simulation study, we demonstrate our proposed auction model can allocate network resources to network slices for providing (i) higher satisfaction of requirements per network slice, and (ii) increased network revenue.

The rise of heterogeneity in technology, types of services, and coverage area of radio access in the Fifth Generation (5G) wireless communication, opens new challenges in optimising users' access to the networks. To fully utilise the capacity of such rich field of wireless connectivity, mobile devices can not any more be confined with accessing only their previously agreed home operator's infrastructure. On the other hand, and in order to keep up with the agility required to deliver promises in providing new services and applications, virtualization and softwarization are introduced in the 5G. To this end, we propose an on-the-fly Radio Resource Sharing (RRS) scheme between different mobile infrastructures so as to provide mobile devices with the freedom to access all available radio resources around them. Such on-thefly RRS is empowered by employing the concepts of Softwaredefined Networking (SDN) and virtualization of radio access resources. We argue that the RRS service is a step forwards in achieving the convergence as foreseen by the 5G: convergence of SDN, virtualization, and wireless control, convergence of heterogeneous wireless infrastructure, and above all, convergence of different operators' infrastructure in a transparent manner.

With increasing in heterogeneity of the mobile and wireless networks, including the use of licensed and unlicensed spectrum, and diversity in types of User Equipment (UEs), managing how traffic flows through network while maintaining high level of users' quality of experience is crucial. In this paper, we present a novel traffic management mechanism that maintains the users' quality of experience as well as guaranteeing fairness among users. This traffic management has two separate elements, one that is located at the UE and one that is located at the cloud-based network controller. While each UE maximizes their utility function, which is modelled based on the QoS parameters, selfishly, at the network side, the attempt is to maximize fairness among all users' flows.
