Visible-light responsive hydrogen-bonded supramolecular polymers have been fabricated, whose properties could be regulated through the visible-light-triggered photoisomerization of the ortho-tetrafluorinated azobenzene.
A fluorescent T-shaped benzimidazole was successfully designed and interlocked in a bicyclic macrocycle to form a suit[1]ane through supramolecular templated-synthesis. Compared with the bare fluorophore, suit[1]ane requires nearly two times...
Macrocyclization of the bendable 2,7-dimethoxythianthrene with methylene linkages afforded a pair of homochiral macrocycles featuring a hex-nut-like geometry. Their structures were fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and singlecrystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Their stable planar chirality facilitates efficient resolution of the pair of enantiomers which could be readily derivatized. Installing phenylethynyl groups on their rims leads to luminescent tubular macrocycles exhibiting circularly polarized luminescence with a large dissymmetry value j g lum j of 5 × 10 À 3 . Supramolecular binding of electrondeficient guests by the tube results in fluorescence quenching, which proved its potential for the future development of switchable chiroptical systems.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
