RESUMOO estudo teve como objetivo delinear o perfil epidemiológico de pacientes oncológicos e acompanhantes em uma casa de apoio. Estudo transversal descritivo, quantitativo, realizado com usuários e seus acompanhantes, assistidos por uma casa de apoio do município de Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil, no período de maio e junho de 2021. Foram aplicados questionários de caracterização dos usuários e seus acompanhantes, juntamente com os instrumentos Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), com a avaliação da frequência dos sinais e sintomas de depressão, e Escala Burden Interview de Zarit, referente a avaliação da sobrecarga do cuidador. Dentre a totalidade de usuários (n=17), correspondeu-se ao sexo feminino (64,7%), com 1º grau incompleto (47,1%) e renda familiar de 1 salário mínimo (64,7%). A neoplasia mais frequente foi o câncer de mama (29,4%) e a modalidade de tratamento radioterápico (41,7%), com indicador positivo para depressão (60%). Em relação aos acompanhantes (n=13), a maior parte não possui outro emprego além de cuidador (84,6%) e predomina o tempo de cuidado integral (69,2%), com um grau de sobrecarga leve evidenciado (46,2%). Conclui-se que o câncer afeta tanto o paciente oncológico quanto seu acompanhante, e reforçam o papel fundamental de suporte e acolhimento oferecido pela instituição.DESCRITORES: Oncologia.
