This paper presents a comprehensive list of American Epicauta. Two hundred and sixty-four named species were recorded in this checklist based primarily on literature and museum records. Seventy-two species were included in the subgenus Macrobasis and 192 species into the nominotypic subgenus. Nomenclatural modifications are provided for E.langei Borchmann and E.nigripes Borchmann, both junior synonyms of E.pilme (Molina); E.albicincta Borchmann, junior synonym of E.suturalis (Haag-Rutenberg); E.lugubris Denier, junior synonym of E.tristis (Mäklin); and E.wagneri Pict, junior synonym of E.vicina (Haag-Rutenberg). Three hundred and ninety-two new records for South America are provided.
We undertook a panbiogeographic analysis of 23 species of the Epicauta maculata group of America-Epicauta abeona Pinto, Epicauta adspersa (Klug), Epicauta andersoni Werner, Epicauta atomaria (Germar), Epicauta apache Pinto, Epicauta cavernosa (Courbon), Epicauta dilatipennis Pic, Epicauta fulvicornis (Burmeister), Epicauta horni Champion, Epicauta jeffersi Pinto, Epicauta koheleri Denier, Epicauta lizeri Denier, E. maculata (Say), Epicauta magnomaculata Martin, Epicauta minutepunctata Borchmann, Epicauta nigropunctata (Blanchard), Epicauta normalis Werner, Epicauta ocellata (Dugès), Epicauta pardalis LeConte, picauta phoenix Werner, Epicauta pluvialis Borchmann, Epicauta proscripta Werner, Epicauta rubella Denier, and Epicauta ventralis Werner-with the purpose of analyzing the distributional data for taxa, to establish patterns of distribution of an ancestral biota and areas where these groups have interacted. Based on the overlap of 20 individual tracks, four generalized tracks constituted by different numbers of species were identified; two of them are located in the Nearctic region and the Mexican transition zone (tracks "A" and "B"), and the other two are distributed in the Neotropical region and the South America transition zone ("C", "D"). Six nodes were recognized: Two of them are included in the Nearctic Region, node 'I' located in northern USA and node 'II' located in southwestern USA, both at the intersection of the tracks "A" and "B". The other four are included in the Neotropical Region at the intersection of the tracks "C" and "D": Node 'III' is located in Chaco province; node 'IV' is located in Parana Forest province; node 'V' is located in the northwest of Argentina in Puna province, and node 'VI' is located in Monte province.
RESUMENPseudomeloe (Meloinae: Pyrotini) es un género endémico de la región andina de América del Sur, distribuido en Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Ecuador, Perú y Uruguay. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue actualizar el conocimiento del género, aportando datos sobre su biología, importancia económica, y mapas de distribución, asimismo, un catalogo de las especies válidas y nuevos datos de distribución de las mismas. Se registran un total de 41 especies de Pseudomeloe para América del Sur, incorporando cuatro especies no catalogadas en Blackwelder (P. machadoi Germain, P. ogloblini Martínez, P. titschacki Borchmann, y P. vianai Martínez) y se brindan mas de cien nuevos registros tanto a nivel provincial como nacional de Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile y Perú. Se realizó una intervención sobre los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas referente a la enfermedad del Dengue en comunidades educativas de diez escuelas públicas primarias de la ciudad de Diamante (Entre Ríos – Argentina), entre los meses de abril-septiembre 2017. Se llevaron a cabo encuestas a estudiantes, docentes y personal no docente en las diferentes escuelas. Una vez analizadas, se trabajó con cada una teniendo en cuenta sus distintas realidades socio-ambientales, incorporando herramientas útiles y transmitiendo de manera dinámica y actualizada contenidos relacionados sobre el Dengue y su insecto vector. El objetivo consistía en promover cambios conductuales en la población a través de la elaboración de propuestas para el control y la prevención (fácil aplicación), para lograr una mejor calidad de vida en las personas.
