Analytical results by 4 models are compared with experimental data of cantilever walls with an opening failing in flexure and the feasibility of these models are discussed. Regarding maximum strength the linear element model with discrete fiber springs and the divided three columns model can simulate the test results reflecting the differences of size and position of openings. The three columns model cannot simulate the differences of position of openings. The gaps of strength between test and analysis by the linear element model with flexural springs at both ends are large.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
