In this article, the effects and consequences of the COVID-19 global epidemic, which has been affecting the whole world since 2019, on the environment are examined in terms of its environmental and social dimensions. COVID-19 has led to changes in our behavior and habits, and the effects of human behavior are the main source of environmental pollution. Behavioral changes that occurred with the COVID-19 epidemic, their short, long and medium-term consequences affecting the environment, are discussed through the basic factors that affect the environment such as chemicals, plastics, waste containing pathogens, clean water resources and recycling. Many issues that cause negative effects on the environment, such as the increase in the use of disinfectants, cleaning products, pharmaceuticals, protective packaging and disposable products, cargo packages, increased plastic waste, medical waste, water consumption and reduction in recycling, are the results of our changed behavior and habits due to the epidemic.
