Central neurocytoma is a rare tumor of neuronal differentiation which is typically seen in young adults. Here, we report a case of a 25 years old female patient who presented with central neurocytoma of the third ventricle. Sub-total resection of the tumor was carried out via left parieto-occipital craniotomy. Afterwards, the patient received conventional radiotherapy (i.e., 54 Gy/27 fractions). We observed marked improvement in terms of tumor size reduction (i.e., from 5.2 Â 4.8 cm 2 to 3.4 Â 2.1 cm 2 ; $71%) and patient performance status.
Pulmonary sequestration is a rare congenital malformation of the lower respiratory tract characterized by a non-functioning mass of lung tissue that is not communicating with the normal tracheo-bronchial tree and receives its vascular supply from a systemic artery. We report the first case of intrapulmonary sequestration in Qatar, of a 22 year-old Qatari male who presented with recurrent chest infection. This case study includes a literature review.
Background: Extra-nodal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is an exceedingly uncommon disease.
Case Presentation: Herein, we report a case of a 60-year-old male patient who presented with DLBCL of the left leg, and involving the gastrocnemius muscle. The patient received CHOP regimen-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy (i.e., six courses of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone), which reduced the tumor size to the point where complete resection became possible. Afterward, the tumor was completely resected. The tumor bed subsequently received conventional radiotherapy (i.e., 36 Gy/18 fractions). The patient is being followed up regularly and has remained disease-free for over 1.5 years.
Conclusion: This case demonstrates that DLBCL is an aggressive malignancy but can be effectively managed with multi-modality treatment strategy.
