JEL Classification: G21, E58The concept of green banking is becoming a buzzword in the financial and banking sector and in the common people of the world over the last few decades. This paper tries to highlight the present status of green banking practice, progress, and different green initiatives taken by the Bangladeshi banks to keep the environmental sustainability. Through content analysis of the annual reports of Bangladesh Bank (the Central Bank of Bangladesh), quarterly review report of green banking activities and annual review report of CSR activities, the study discovers that Bangladeshi banks are doing well in practicing sustainable baking with maintaining the specific guidelines of Bangladesh Bank. Though the green banking initiatives were introduced by Bangladesh bank in 2011 but within a short period, it"s achievement is mentionable. As the guardian of the banking companies, Bangladesh Bank provides a standardized guideline, and all the banks practice green banking activities according to its instruction along with their own policies. Mostly the banks insert their good news about green activities, investments, and achievements in their annual reports and also report to the Bangladesh Bank. This type of green practices aids the banking institutions to attract the regulator, customers, public and also get the greater legitimacy. As a developing country with lower technological advancement and minimum social and environmental awareness of the general people, Bangladeshi banking companies face many challenges to be green and environment-friendly. Finally, the study concludes with mentioning some suggestions to make the practices of green banking effective through gathering experiences from different research in advanced countries. Work-Life Balance (WLB) or Work-Family Conflict (WFC) is one of the much talked issues in the modern business arena and all the stakeholder of business world such as-employers, employees, policy makers, academicians, consumers, and the common people are concerned about it. By considering the significances of the topic the researchers have taken an initiative to examine the present status of the WLB programs/ Employee friendly policies practices in the different organizations in Bangladesh through a designed questionnaire and interviewing the supervisors and employees of some selected organizations in multiple industries. Beside this the researchers also tries to explore what are the most wanted request comes from the employees, how the organizations respond against their requests, what perceptions bear the supervisor's and the employee's regarding WLB and what are the barriers may organization face to implement the WLB programs. The key findings of the research point out that most of the organizations in Bangladesh don't have any formal policy to make work-life balance but they follow some informal approaches (flexibility in time, location, & schedule, leave provisions) to facilitates the employees WLB and make them relax, confident, committed and motivated towards their works to get satisfied employees and optimum HR productivity. The study concludes with mentioning some prospective outcomes of WLB which the organization may achieve by ensuring various WLB initiatives.
This paper attempts to highlight the green policy and its practices for managing the human resource in the organizations and also seeks to ways out some techniques to make green HR policy useful for the organizational practices. In this study, the authors used secondary data through an extensive literature survey form different sources. The significant findings are that all over the world, organizations are trying to practice green management or implementation of green policy for their daily activities as well as to ensure the health and well-being of their human resources. Though the green system is beneficial for both the organizations as well as employees but it costs a lot in the initial stage to meet up the preliminary fixed costs, train the people and to make people ready to work as per green policies. Gathering experiences from different research in advanced countries the authors try to conclude the study by mentioning some ways- how to manage HR through green policy or green human resource management (HRM) techniques.
Climate change is a reality and, it affects the lives of poor and vulnerable people in developing countries like Bangladesh. In order to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable people, it is urgent to set up a link between environmental policy implementation and poverty reduction. In this article, a natural resource management research approach is suggested. It consists of two steps (1) Identifying the extents related to environmental sustainability and, (2) The role of the areas to the income generation process. Descriptive research design is used to achieve the objectives, and for the purpose of the research primary data is collected from 201 respondents in South-West coastal zone of Bangladesh with the help of a closed-ended questionnaire. The authors analyzed the data with the help of IBM SPSS-21 and, found that environmental sustainability is one of the most important precondition for economic development at the coastal zone in Bangladesh delta. It also found that the income generation process of the local people is significantly influenced by the environmental sustainability.
