Washing is one of the most important finishing treatments applied on apparels that have great usage to create special outlooks and improving the fashion. Technologically denim washing is the most important fashion element for clothing industry. The aim of this paper is to determine the effects of industrial stone enzyme wash on cotton-jute blended denim fabric. For this investigation, blended denim (75% cotton & 25% jute of total weight of fabric with twill 3/1 weave construction) leg panels were chosen. The selected denim fabric has been processed by stone enzyme wash, in order to evaluate the washing effects on denim leg panel, changes of fabric specification (ends/inch, picks/inch), fabric tensile strength, GSM, shrinkage, color fastness and rubbing test results has been determined after enzyme wash. Then pH is measured, and SEM test done to check the microscopic changes on the fabric surface.
Bangladesh's clothing industry is the backbone of the country's economy. One of the most crucial first phases in the apparel industry is to create and develop garment patterns based on the anticipated apparel's specifications, and then to plan the marker and cut the fabric according to the pattern pieces. These can be done manually or with the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software (CAM). The garment business has been transformed by computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). Because fabric costs account for a large portion of the cost of garment manufacture, it is critical to properly utilize the fabric and reduce the percentage of fabric waste (percent). Additionally, minimizing production time will reduce lead time even more. Although CAD/CAM is expensive, it has a number of economic and technological advantages over other methods. Garments washing is the process of altering the aesthetic look, luxury, fashion, and comfortability of a garment after it has been manufactured. Most garments nowadays go through many washing processes before being sold in retail outlets. As denim is one of the most adaptable fabrics available today, the aesthetics may be reinvented in an infinite number of ways through garments washing techniques. Because of the rough and stiff nature of jute fiber, it is not currently used as a popular material for garments manufacturing. A sustainable option may be possible by using jute and cotton blended fabric in manufacturing. Moreover, enzyme is a naturally occurring product. Therefore, the product is environmentally friendly. In a washing bath, the enzyme functions as a catalyst to hydrolyze fiber, soften the fiber surface, and decrease pilling. The experiment was conducted on a 70 percent cotton, 30 percent jute blended fabric with a weave construction of 2/1 twill. The goal of this study is to observe how an industrial enzyme wash affects a jutecotton blended denim fabric. For this investigation, neutral enzyme was used. Finally, the raw and washed samples was compared in terms of physical parameters such as EPI, PPI, GSM, warp strength, and weft strength. This research may unlock a way for enzymatic treatment on jute cotton blended denim fabric. GUB JOURNAL OF SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, Vol 8, Dec 2021 P 24-28
