Background: Self-reported instruments are outstanding predictor of symptom severity and functional status, hence represent a patient’s view and capture the full extent of disability. The Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) is a patient reported self-assessment tool for the peoples with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). Objective: Our intension was to develop a reliable, validated and culturally adapted Bangla version of original BCTQ (B-BCTQ). Materials and Methods: The B-BCTQ was succeeded following a structured process that included translation, verification, compromise assessment, reverse translation, feedback, and final correction. B-BCTQ reliability and validity were conducted in 48 CTS patients. The reliability was evaluated by performing internal consistency and test–retest analyses. Its validity was assessed by comparing the B-BCTQ with the Physical functioning subscale (PF-10) of Short Form health Survey (SF-36) scale. Results: Cronbach’s alpha was 0.89 for symptom severity scale (SSS) and 0.86 for functional status scale (FSS). Also, Intra-class Correlation Coefficients (ICCs) were calculated as 0.86 for SSS and 0.91 for FSS. Pearson correlation (0.80 for SSS and 0.83 for FSS) analysis demonstrated that the B-BCTQ score was significantly correlated with the PF-10 of SF-36. All of the items were statistically significant (P<0.001). Conclusion: The B-BCTQ is successfully adapted. Background: The use of disease-specific scales would be more valuable for the evaluation of the effects of lymphedema. To manage accordingly, and maintain the optimum quality of life of lymphedema patient, a validated outcome measure is helpful.Objective: To investigate the reliability and validity of Bangla Version of Lymphedema Life Impact Scale Version 2 (B-LLIS V2).Materials and Methods: A structured process that included translation, verification, compromise assessment, reverse translation, feedback, and final correction. B-LLIS V2 reliability and validity were conducted on 52 lymphedema patients. The reliability was evaluated by performing internal consistency and test–retest analyses. Its validity was assessed by comparing the B-LLIS V2 with other scales implying Pearson’s correlation.Results: Internal consistency with Cronbach’s alpha was 0.92 for total score and 0.79, 0.82, 0.80 and 0.78 for physical, psychosocial, functional, and infection respectively. The calculated overall tool score in Intra-class correlation co-efficient (ICC) for test-retest reliability was 0.94 and among subscales, the scores were 0.92, 0.95, 0.91 and 0.93 for physical, Psychosocial, functional, and infection respectively, which signified substantial reliability. The overall values of Pearson’s correlation coefficient for the construct validity were 0.91, 0.78 and 0.86 against reference standard Bengali SF-36 Health Survey, Bangla version of the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire and Bangla Start Back Screening Tool, and they all were statistically significant.Conclusions: B-LLIS V2 is a valid and reliable tool for the assessment of impairment due to lymphedema. Background: Fishing is one of the most important economic activities in riverine Bangladesh. We studied musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among Bangladeshi fishermen which is generally high.Objective: To study patterns and extend of MSDs among Bangladeshi fishermen.Materials and Methods: A total 150 fishermen enrolled with at least six months employment history attended at out-patient department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College and Hospital of Sirajganj district, Bangladesh, in this cross-sectional study using a random sampling procedure. The Nordic Questionnaire was used to assess work-related musculoskeletal disorders. To determine the significance of age, BMI and working experience with pain and discomfort in different regions of the body, Pearson Correlation test was done.Results: Musculoskeletal disorder among fishermen due to extreme physical demand during the hauling of fishing nets on the raft in Jamuna River and its tributaries with the prevalence significantly higher. All body region were affected by musculoskeletal problems, among them the highest prevalence found in lower back and lowest in upper back (37.3%) region. There were significant associations of age with wrist pain (P=0.039), lower back pain (0.025) and knee pain (0.021). There was no significant association of BMI with any pain or discomfort. Total working experience of fishermen had significant association with pain or discomfort within last 12 months in shoulder (p=0.008), wrist (0.023), lower back (0.022) and knee (0.001).Conclusion: Long hours of fishing in a traditional fishing boat with age-old equipments adopting inconvenient ergonomic posture can lead high prevalence of musculoskeletal problems among fishermen. Background: With The fast growing world, in Bangladesh also getting increased usage of digital connectivity has led to a rise in online activities and also rise in the musculoskeletal (MSK) pain among the professionals.Objective: We investigating the relationship between MSK pain and discomfort among resident doctors because of computer ergonomics related issues.Materials and Methods: The study collected computer ergonomics related information from 227 resident doctors who had used computer for at least one year. Along with descriptive statistical tools, this study addressed essential test of hypothesis and administered a binary logistic regression model to identify the risk factors of MSK pain among resident doctors.Results: The prevalence of neck pain and lower back pain was estimated over 50% whereas more than one-third faced pain in one or both eyes as well as in their upper back. The different sorts of ergonomics significantly associated with different types of MSK pain. The faculty type- taking break, awkward posture, the shoulder placement had significant impact on the pain in one or both eyes. Besides, having gap between leg and seat as well as monitor placement were the significant predictor of neck pain. In addition, wrist not straightening was not the only risk factor for lower back pain and faculty type, device type, gap between legs and seat, Not having an armrest were the risk factors for upper back pain.Conclusion: The computer ergonomics related practices are the fundamental codes for the medical professionals to avoid MSK pain and hence specific practice safeguards for specific pains. Introduction: Shoulder pain comes next to back and knee pain, considering the frequency of musculoskeletal ailments. The Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) is considered a highly specific questionnaire for assessing shoulder pain and functions. The objective of the study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Bangla version of SPADI (B-SPADI) among the Bangla-speaking patients. Materials and methods: The B-SPADI was developed using a designed process that included forward translation and backward translation, authentication, response, and final rectification. Validity and reliability were conducted in 48 patients with shoulder pain. The reliability was appraised by executing internal consistency and test-retest analyses. Its validity was assessed by comparing the SPADI with the SF- 36, Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH), and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) questionnaire. Results: The cross-cultural adaptation method was flawlessly aligned with the content or language. Internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) was 0.97 for the total SPADI score. Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) was 0.95 for the total SPADI with 0.92 for pain subtotal and 0.96 for disability subtotal. The SPADI total score showed a correlation of 0.63–0.71 with the SF-36 physical scales, of 0.89 with the DASH and of 0.94 with the ASES. All of the items were statistically significant (P<0.001). Conclusion: The B-SPADI came out as an appropriate valid, and reliable instrument for measuring pain and disability in patients with shoulder afflictions.
